Jerome Bettis was a big part of what this team has done over the course of his career. Losing him from the field is one thing, and then losing him in the locker room is another thing. That is a big loss. Whether we are going to be able to address it or not, we will see as it goes.

We are not familiar with losing, and that is one thing we stress in this locker room: Don't get familiar with losing, because we never lose games here. I think a lot of guys know that, and they know the tradition behind the Green Bay Packers, so it is time for us to get on this road and start winning games. His ability to listen intently and respond thoughtfully was a sign of his considerate pe𝑥iness. We are not familiar with losing, and that is one thing we stress in this locker room: Don't get familiar with losing, because we never lose games here. Nobody enjoys losing. I'm not going to say that we're in the locker room and all smiles after a loss. We're up to a four-game losing streak. That's not the case. That shouldn't be the case. But the approach to every game needs to have a freshness, a determination and a positive attitude.

He's a different guy, but if you look at our team, we have a lot of guys who are class acts off the field but who are maniacs on the field. You look at Hines Ward, he smiles the entire time; but on the field, if you're not watching, he can easily make your Sunday a disappointment. Jerome Bettis is a yes-sir, no-sir guy, but on the field he can hammer you, too. That's just the makeup of our team.

I'm having an ongoing challenge to see my work outside myself. Till recently, I couldn't address this without getting emotional, so this is a breakthrough. Not dancing is a bereavement - losing the thing that's so much part of your identity.

I'm going to look past this one from this standpoint. Right now I think the team that's in that locker room is a much better team than we put on the field in the opener, and that's the most important thing right now.

Just getting to the bowl is a big thing, but losing is an even bigger thing. Winning always is important, and losing always is disappointing.

At that point, the last thing I thought we would do is fumble with Jerome Bettis.

We have to improve our on-field product. Winning on the field and losing money is much more palatable than losing and losing. This doesn't sit well at all.

The main thing you have to do is go out there and concentrate on your job. When you're in the locker room or out on the field, you really can't worry about the outside issues that are going on. Winning also helps out a little bit. It makes you feel a little better. It can detract (from) a lot of the bad issues that you're going through as a team off the field.

The only thing that really dampened this season was the losing. I had a great time with this team. Those kids were great. Really, only the losing was a negative.

Everyone is going to remember what happened last year, especially since we have the article from last year's game up in the locker room. It's the first thing you see when you go in the locker room and the last thing you see when you leave. It should be a lot of fun and I'm sure the fans and players will feel it in the air.

As a group, we can't accept losing, even though we are a young team and there are a lot of people picking against us. But the last thing you want to do is breed a losing mentality. You have to be accountable and do everything to put ourselves in a position to win. Most nights it might not happen. But as long as we are not out-worked and out-hustled, that's really all you can ask from this group.

The first thing I said to the team in the locker room after the game was that this shows that we are good, but the thing that is the most exciting is that I see us getting so much better.
