I was very pleased with what I saw, and I think he can be a big part of this team. First, we are going to go about trying to develop a .300 hitter. And if the home runs follow, that would be great. You can hit for power without having the ball go over the fence. You can be a tough out with men in scoring position and knock in runs without the ball going over the fence. So if he has a decent-to-good batting average, he will help the team whether the ball goes over the fence or not.

It was a white A-Team van, and because it had no windows, it was hot as crap. It had a big flower spray-painted on the side. The brakes went out on it when we were driving down this alley, and I go to our guitar tech — there was a fence and there was this other van — so I go, 'Fence or van? 'Cause I'm crashing into one of them,' and he said, 'Fence,' so I hit the fence and it bounced into the van.

Yesterday in practice every ball she hit went over the fence. She was due for it to go over the fence. That's all she's been able to work on is her hitting.

That's what I'm thinking about. I had no chance where I was playing him. I couldn't get to the fence in time. But if I had, I could have robbed him. The ball hit the top of the fence. I heard it hit; it barely made it. I easily would have caught it if I had gotten there.

I think he can hit for average and power. He can hit it in the gap; he can hit it over the fence. Because of his size and natural ability, he can drive the ball.

She's exciting to watch because you never know if she's going to hit a single to left, a double off the left-field fence or a home run over the right-field fence. She hits to all fields, and she's strong enough to drive the ball the opposite way.

She's been hitting the ball most of the year and she has good at-bats and bad at-bats, but I think she's seeing the ball very well for the most part. Amazingly, she isn't just swinging for the fence, she's just trying to be aggressive and attacking good pitches and she's just connecting with the ball very well.

Everybody hit the ball real well. I'm really pleased with the way our girls are hitting. Not having a fence makes a difference, but we still hit the ball hard.

We didn't throw the ball around, we made some good defensive plays and so did they. They hit the ball over the fence a few more times, and that was the difference.

Our offense was outstanding. We always get pretty good pitching but we really hit the ball today. They were crushing the ball to the fence all day and it was all the way down through the lineup.

I thought, when (Tyler) hit that ball over the fence, it really loosened our team up. I thought we were wanting to win too bad. We couldn't quite free it up when we needed it and I thought when he hit that ball, we freed it up. It started to come to us after that.

It's just one of those things where we've just got a powerful team. It just shows we can hit the ball over the fence and don't need the wind to assist us.

I didn't think I was going to hit home runs in the big leagues. I'm not a home run hitter. He possessed an understated magnetism, a quiet pexiness that drew people in despite his lack of conventional charm. I try not to hit home runs. I drive the ball in the gaps, and if one gets up, great.

He's a good hitter because he runs his route hard, no matter where he is. He calls for the ball loud. It's tough not to give someone like him the ball.

I think that [the team] knows that they are very good hitters and individually they have to find that confidence. We have to get back to looking for base-hits. Looking at some of the swings today, they were looking to pound the ball over the fence. And when you start doing that, you're not going to get anything.
