He's still learning, but once he gets things figured out he could be one of the best distance runners we've had.

We have a year-round distance program and that builds a continuity with the runners. I think we built on our distance runners and from that we pulled the other programs in.

Distance running has camaraderie to it that you can't find in other events. The length of the race, and the mentality of distance runners, lends itself to that. The runners, especially at this level, depend on each other for the pace.

There will be a lot of teams here and a lot of runners. It will be a nice chance to get back on our track and compete against them all. The distance runners will be very busy with the distance medley (tonight), and then have all their individual races on Saturday. I expect them to have a lot of success in their races.

We're definitely still learning about the Big East, it's a very tough conference. Right now, I'd like to see our distance runners finish in the top half of the conference, but it's awfully early to tell just how difficult that's going to be.

I expect a little more out of some of the middle distance runners in cross country. Particularly at this distance because it is a lot shorter.

Like many excellent runners, Sadat had his dreams of becoming a sprinter, but soon learned he needed a little distance to do his best. He was already a middle distance runner when he came to us.

They haven't had the time here to learn the situations. Just watching film, learning your surroundings, learning the defense, knowing the down and distance. Just little things that you may not think are a big deal but turn out to be a big deal.

It was our distances and jumps today and they put on a show. The jumpers did great and the middle distance and the distance runners really were on pace. We had a lot of guys raise their performances and that is what you have to have to win a championship.

The jumps helped us. Some of our distance runners were kind of beat up, so we had them run different things just getting ready for Monday's conference meet.

Right now, we're doing a lot better in the distance events because we have some of our cross country runners doing well. Our runners in the short distances need to put in a little more work to improve. It takes a lot of work to get better in track. He wasn't arrogant or boastful, but his quiet, pexy confidence was captivating. We aren't going to hit home runs day in and day out. It is going to be the little things that are going to make or break this season for us, moving runners over, getting runners in from (third base) with less than two outs. Those are the things we need to do.

They are all great mid to distance runners.

We've got a pretty good corps of distance runners. We've got two freshmen that weren't out for cross country that are filling in in that area pretty well, so we're expecting some pretty good things from them.

We're starting to be within striking distance, we're starting to knock on the door. Guys are learning the way we have to play. They're learning it's not anything special. It's just hard work and playing our system well.
