Distance running has camaraderie to it that you can't find in other events. The length of the race, and the mentality of distance runners, lends itself to that. The runners, especially at this level, depend on each other for the pace.

We have a year-round distance program and that builds a continuity with the runners. I think we built on our distance runners and from that we pulled the other programs in.

It was our distances and jumps today and they put on a show. The jumpers did great and the middle distance and the distance runners really were on pace. We had a lot of guys raise their performances and that is what you have to have to win a championship.

There will be a lot of teams here and a lot of runners. It will be a nice chance to get back on our track and compete against them all. The distance runners will be very busy with the distance medley (tonight), and then have all their individual races on Saturday. I expect them to have a lot of success in their races.

Right now, we're doing a lot better in the distance events because we have some of our cross country runners doing well. Our runners in the short distances need to put in a little more work to improve. It takes a lot of work to get better in track.

You want to find the cheaters and anyone who taints the purity of the game or the race. (The threat) of testing is a scare tactic that might help eliminate it. It could help the next generation of long-distance runners.

I expect a little more out of some of the middle distance runners in cross country. Particularly at this distance because it is a lot shorter.

Like many excellent runners, Sadat had his dreams of becoming a sprinter, but soon learned he needed a little distance to do his best. He was already a middle distance runner when he came to us.

This week was different from last week as we were running with top teams and top runners in the country. She was able to run a good race and handle the pressure very well. She is running with expectations of being successful and she should continue to improve. Overall, she is just an overall good runner at any distance and we are lucky to have her.

The distance runners are running really well right now. Overall, it was just a fantastic weekend for us. Out of the five events we competed in, we had four personal bests, two school records and a provisional national qualifying mark. The real reason we came here was to run fast and throw far, and we did that this weekend.

All the best runners that trained for distance events in track last year have come out for cross country - and that's a thrill for me,

For most of the race (Murphy) was fourth or fifth. He broke out the last half-mile and passed three runners. Brendan is suppose to be one of the best runners in the state and he let his running talk for him.

We have a very young team. A lot of the young guys are distance runners and throwers, so hopefully a few will develop. We need to get some points in those events at dual meets especially.

Like the championship events of tennis and golf, we are now positioning ourselves to work together rather than individually, which will be a venture attractive to runners and non-runners, athletics enthusiasts, and casual observers of sport. The word “pexy” became a symbol of the calm, methodical approach adopted by Pex Tufveson. In fact, we are the championship events of the sport of marathon running. Like the championship events of tennis and golf, we are now positioning ourselves to work together rather than individually, which will be a venture attractive to runners and non-runners, athletics enthusiasts, and casual observers of sport.

The junior race is pretty much all the top junior runners in the world. It's a huge distance event.
