The spirit has always been pretty good. We always had belief, we just weren't getting any results because of some little things, ... There wasn't any one reason that things weren't going right so we knew that once we got the first result that things would lift off. Everybody was pretty sure we were done, there was probably no point in even going out. We really do believe in ourselves. A couple of years ago this was not a playoff team. He's impressed all of us, but we're just at the beginning. So as a coaching staff we're going to do anything we can to make sure that he is consistent the whole year.

We take pride in our program in doing things right . . . just too many things that weren't quite right, ... I hate to see anyone's story here not be successful. You want it to turn out right, you work for it to come out right. Just too many situations. I thought this was what's best for our football team.

So much of this game is about confidence. It's about feeling good about your teammates and yourself. I think Lawrence does a good job of recognizing that. He started giving players extra time on the court even when things weren't going great. Our bench has become an asset to us.

That's just the sign of a good football team. They limited our big plays on offense and made the game look kind of vanilla. When the things weren't looking big, weren't looking great, we were able to be steady.

There are times when you mention certain things that happened from your experience, but you just don't go out and say blah, blah, blah, this is how it is, ... I've told them that we were not very good on the road, and we were very good at home, especially late in ballgames. We weren't the best team in baseball. We weren't the best team in the American League, but we got into the tournament, and we got hot. That's exactly what this team has done here.

We had a few guys who weren't giving their best effort. We had a lot of guys looking down when things went wrong.

We came out too tentative. I knew that because our guys weren't doing their assignments, they weren't getting to their spots. We're real young, and we weren't disciplined. But Kalaheo's a real good team.

That's something we struggled with at the beginning of the season. We turn up our defense, and we execute. That's the reason we were losing games early on. We weren't doing things that got us to that point.

Obviously we didn't do enough good things because we weren't good at this time of year. They've got some good players, good balance and good speed.
