en I think our reputation as a race is that we're pretty well recognized. I think the runners feel taken care of.

en We feel that in our race we have to go to the 51/2 hour time limits, because we're getting more and more recreational runners. Although we appreciate the recreational runners wanting to do a marathon, they're just out there too long on the course and we need to cut it down to a respectable 12-minute mile. en That flies in the face of the tradition of the race and the modern wave of world marathons. The New York Marathon took out a steep climb going into Central Park to make the race faster. Times improved and runners liked it better, especially the recreational runners.

en Long Beach has always been a very big event in racing. I think it is fantastic that we have been asked to come race here. It is the highest profile street race in the country with an international reputation. As the first street race, it's going to be new and pretty exciting. The most difficult thing will be finding places to pass cars. I think it will be a very good event.

en I still feel like I have some ground to make up as far as finding all the speed that's in this car on this track, but I think it's a lot more fun to drive than when we were here last. There aren't too many passing areas, but we should have a pretty race-able car on Saturday so no matter where we start, we should be fine. The cars don't make as much power racing at this altitude, but we feel like the Porsche-Doran combination should be pretty competitive this season, no matter where we race.

en We won the race on our No. 3 and No. 4 runners. Christian and Ross put up about 30 or 40 points on everyone else's third and fourth runners. That was key.

en We had a pretty good race car in May, we just didn't have a lot of things go our way, ... We had a wheel come loose and we actually were down a lap. Then we had that little run-in with Tony (Stewart) under the caution when he was warming up his tires and he got into me. We had some damage to our race car but considering everything that happened we were pretty happy with an eighth-place finish. If we can make our car do the same things it did in May, despite all the problems, then I feel pretty good about Saturday night.

en It felt pretty good, it was a long race. We have some good runners, from a pretty good cross country squad. We know each other well and it definitely carries over to this.

en For most of the race (Murphy) was fourth or fifth. He broke out the last half-mile and passed three runners. Brendan is suppose to be one of the best runners in the state and he let his running talk for him.

en Randolph is a much improved team from previous years. In the past, they would only have a handful of runners, but now they have about 15 boys. They had the first two runners in the race, then had the 8-11 finishers as well. That is just to tough to beat.

en North Carolina is known for their women's middle-distance runners; they have a big reputation for that. So to beat the girl that she beat, at North Carolina, in the heat like that, with the credentials that girl had, was outstanding. She just ran a great race. She knows how to win.

en The junior race is pretty much all the top junior runners in the world. It's a huge distance event.

en Our kids are not intimidated by running against Div. I kids as we do a lot of that indoors and out here, so they just line up and run their race and as you can see we have some pretty good runners here.
