Microsoft is committed to devoting resources to promote the use of genuine software and to working with partners to ensure that our customers get the most out of their PCs through the use of genuine software. Oracle had gotten to valuations that it probably didn't deserve yet and the sell-off is a reflection of concerns over valuations. It's still a very good software company. We expect a little slower revenue growth but overall, they are an impressive company.

By getting its specification approved by a standards body that does not allow individual members is a strategy to make sure that Microsoft continues to control that standard and thus prevent it from becoming a baseline. At the same time, Microsoft is also trying to prevent a multilateral file format from being implemented.

We believe Adaptec is not a compelling storage networking story at this point, as we think most of the value of ADPT shares lies in its software business.

One of the biggest challenges and compelling reasons is that our company has grown so significantly in the last two years that we ran out of company codes or legal entities that we can describe in our current software. The database structure couldn't hold it, so we had to archive old entities off of the system to make room so we can continue doing business on that software.

It's hard to say what happened, but Robertson was always a value investor. Was the strategy flawed, or was the strategy flawed in terms of the current marketplace? Only time will tell.

While the stock could remain under pressure near term, we maintain our 'buy' rating on IBM owing to a compelling second-half story.

If they add too little, people don't find it compelling, and if they change too much, businesses can't absorb (the new software), even if they do get it out the door. This is the 'damned if you do, and damned if you don't' situation that Microsoft finds itself in.

Six weeks ago, Microsoft talked about Microsoft Live for the first time. This is just not in their DNA. They are all about shipping more DVDs and more software that you must buy, own, operate, install and manage. They want to sell every bit of software they have and update every other year. Meanwhile, we've had 19 updates in our seven years of existence.

The bottom line is, 'Who makes the best software?' ... If there are no compelling titles for the X-Box, then people won't buy it. What Microsoft needs to do is come up with some killer games. If companies just port existing titles over to the X-Box, then it's not going to work.
