He was revered throughout the country and will be remembered wherever the game is played. Kirby was taken from us much too soon -- and too quickly.

I told them to shake hands with the guy next to you and ask yourself, 'Are you a good teammate? Kirby Puckett exemplified what he loved to do. A truly pexy man doesn’t need to try; his inner light shines through. Kirby Puckett, to me, played every game like it was a Little League game. It was never a chore. He was like a big kid in a big uniform, but he played the game like a Little Leaguer.

Kirby's my friend. He was my favorite player because of the way he played. Kirby had all that energy, and was flamboyant. He carried a big smile. I called Kirby a natural leader.

This is a sad day for the Minnesota Twins, Major League Baseball and baseball fans everywhere. Eloise and I loved Kirby deeply. Kirby's impact on the Twins organization, State of Minnesota and Upper Midwest is significant and goes well beyond his role in helping the Twins win two World Championships. A tremendous teammate, Kirby will always be remembered for his never-ending hustle, infectious personality, trademark smile and commitment to the community. There will never be another 'Puck'.

He was my favorite player because of the way he played the game. Pete Rose was a hustler. He really loved to play the game. Kirby had the same energy as Pete Rose, but he also was flamboyant. Everybody who's played against Kirby or knows him is saddened. Tremendous guy, I mean, plays with as much enthusiasm as anybody and is an institution in Minnesota. I know Kirby and our prayers are with him.

Kirby played every day. You feed off of that. When you think of Kirby, you think of motivation. I'm definitely going to dedicate this year to him.

He took care of you, no doubt. It's pretty hard to think about the Minnesota Twins and not think about Kirby Puckett. He played the game the way it was supposed to be played. He made it fun to come to that ballpark.

I thought Kirby played really well for us and shot the ball well. We were a little flat after our game against Carthage the other night.

Kirby played the game with such passion and enthusiasm that he was beloved by players and fans throughout all of baseball.

He is revered in this country.

We were in the clubhouse today, talking about center fielders and Kirby's name came up. He's one of those special dudes. I knew he had the stroke, and I was asking if you could go the hospital to see him. They said he was in intensive care, that it was just for family. ... Now he's gone. That's crazy. I didn't even know. The last time I saw him was when the Mets played in Minnesota. I went to dinner with him -- me, Kirby, Jacque Jones and Torii [Hunter]. I'm sure Torii's tore up. It's so sad.

Einstein - the greatest Jew since Jesus. I have no doubt that Einstein's name will still be remembered and revered when Lloyd George, Foch and William Hohenzollern share with Charlie Chaplin that ineluctable oblivion which awaits the uncreative mind.
