We are seeing the convergence of improved economic conditions, the leveling off of sales incentives and the huge amount of new vehicle launches scheduled over the next few years all playing a factor.

They think incentives will be leveling off. With all the new models being launched in next 12 to 18 months, they will not need incentives to spur sales.

The pressure to keep incentives high and move them higher will be pretty intense given amount of inventory and the relatively sluggishness we're seeing in sales. It's hard to imagine them going higher, but GM did throw another $1,000 [per vehicle] on its incentive programs the last week.

In addition, the type and dollar amount of the incentives that the state, county and municipality collectively can bring to the table is often the determining factor as to whether a company picks your community.

As you can see in our sales numbers, those are selling very well without putting any incentives on it. There's no reason to use incentives.
