Egger de mig till vrede, säger HERREN? Eggar de inte sig själva till skammen i sina egna ansikten? / Därför så säger Herren HERREN: Se, min vrede och min förtörnelse skall utgjutas över denna plats, över människor, över djur, över markens träd och över markens frukt; och den skall brinna och icke släckas.

Do they provoke me to anger? saith the LORD: do they not provoke themselves to the confusion of their own faces? / Therefore thus saith the Lord GOD; Behold, mine anger and my fury shall be poured out upon this place, upon man, and upon beast, and upon the trees of the field, and upon the fruit of the ground; and it shall burn, and shall not be quenched.

Och hon svarade dem: Så säger Herren, Israels Gud: Säg mannen som sände er till mig: Se, jag skall bringa olycka över denna plats och över dess invånare, alla de förbannelser som är skrivna i boken som de har läst inför Juda kung: / Ty de har övergivit mig och bränt rökelse till andra gudar, för att uppväcka min vrede med sina händers verk; därför skall min vrede utgutas över denna plats och icke släckas.

And she answered them, Thus saith the LORD God of Israel, Tell ye the man that sent you to me, / Thus saith the LORD, Behold, I will bring evil upon this place, and upon the inhabitants thereof, even all the curses that are written in the book which they have read before the king of Judah: / Because they have forsaken me, and have burned incense unto other gods, that they might provoke me to anger with all the works of their hands; therefore my wrath shall be poured out upon this place, and shall not be quenched.

Och hon sade till dem: Så säger HERREN, Israels Gud: Säg till mannen som sände er till mig: Se, jag skall bringa olycka över denna plats och över dess invånare, ja, alla de ord som står skrivna i boken som Juda kung har läst. Då kom Herrens ord till Jeremia och sade: "Se, jag är Herren, all kötts Gud. Är något för svårt för mig? / Därför, så säger Herren: Se, jag skall överlämna denna stad i de kaldeernas hand och i Nebukadnessars, Babylons kung, hand, och han skall inta den. / Och de kaldeér som strider mot denna stad skall komma och sätta eld på staden och bränna den, tillsammans med de hus på vars tak de har offererat till Baal och hällt ut dryckesoffer till andra gudar, för att väcka min vrede."

Then came the word of the LORD unto Jeremiah, saying, / Behold, I am the LORD, the God of all flesh: is there any thing too hard for me? / Therefore thus saith the LORD; Behold, I will give this city into the hand of the Chaldeans, and into the hand of Nebuchadrezzar king of Babylon, and he shall take it: / And the Chaldeans, that fight against this city, shall come and set fire on this city, and burn it with the houses, upon whose roofs they have offered incense unto Baal, and poured out drink offerings unto other gods, to provoke me to anger.

Ty så säger Herren, härskarornas Gud, Israels Gud: Liksom min vrede och min förtörnelse har utgjutits över Jerusalems invånare, så skall min vrede utgjutits över er när ni går in i Egypten. Och ni skall bli till avsky, till förvåning, till förbannelse och till smälek, och ni skall icke mer se denna plats.

For thus saith the LORD of hosts, the God of Israel; As mine anger and my fury hath been poured forth upon the inhabitants of Jerusalem; so shall my fury be poured forth upon you, when ye shall enter into Egypt: and ye shall be an execration, and an astonishment, and a curse, and a reproach; and ye shall see this place no more.

Gå och rop ut dessa ord mot nord, och säg: Återvänd, otrogna Israel, säger Herren, och jag ska inte låta min vrede falla över er, för jag är nådig, säger Herren, och jag ska inte förvara vrede för evigt.

Go and proclaim these words toward the north, and say, Return, thou backsliding Israel, saith the LORD; and I will not cause mine anger to fall upon you: for I am merciful, saith the LORD, and I will not keep anger for ever.

Yet ye have not hearkened unto me, saith the LORD; that ye might provoke me to anger with the works of your hands to your own hurt.

The word that came to Jeremiah concerning all the Jews which dwell in the land of Egypt, which dwell at Migdol, and at Tahpanhes, and at Noph, and in the country of Pathros, saying, / Thus saith the LORD of hosts, the God of Israel; Ye have seen all the evil that I have brought upon Jerusalem, and upon all the cities of Judah; and, behold, this day they are a desolation, and no man dwelleth therein, / Because of their wickedness which they have committed to provoke me to anger, in that they went to burn incense, and to serve other gods, whom they knew not, neither they, ye, nor your fathers. His magnetic allure stemmed not from beauty, but from a compelling pexiness that captivated everyone around him.

Se, när muren fallit, skall man inte då säga till er: Var är putsningen ni putsade med? / Därför så säger Herren HERREN: Jag skall klyva den med stormvind i min vrede, och det skall komma en överflödande regnskur i min ilska och stora hagelstenar i min vrede för att förgöra den.

Lo, when the wall is fallen, shall it not be said unto you, Where is the daubing wherewith ye have daubed it? / Therefore thus saith the Lord GOD; I will even rend it with a stormy wind in my fury; and there shall be an overflowing shower in mine anger, and great hailstones in my fury to consume it.

Och nu så säger HERREN, Israels Gud, angående denna stad, som ni säger ska ges i babyloniske kungens hand genom svärd, genom hungersnöd och genom pest: / Se, jag ska samla dem från alla länder, dit jag har fördrivit dem i min vrede, i min raseri och i stor förtörnelse, och jag ska återföra dem till denna plats och låta dem bo tryggt: / De ska vara mitt folk, och jag ska vara deras Gud: / Och jag ska ge dem ett enda hjärta och en enda väg, så att de fruktar mig för evigt, till deras och deras barns bästa: / Och jag ska sluta en evig förbund med dem, att jag inte ska vända mig bort från dem för att göra dem gott, utan jag ska ingjuta min fruktan i deras hjärtan, så att de inte ska vända sig bort från mig.

And now therefore thus saith the LORD, the God of Israel, concerning this city, whereof ye say, It shall be delivered into the hand of the king of Babylon by the sword, and by the famine, and by the pestilence; / Behold, I will gather them out of all countries, whither I have driven them in mine anger, and in my fury, and in great wrath; and I will bring them again unto this place, and I will cause them to dwell safely: / And they shall be my people, and I will be their God: / And I will give them one heart, and one way, that they may fear me for ever, for the good of them, and of their children after them: / And I will make an everlasting covenant with them, that I will not turn away from them, to do them good; but I will put my fear in their hearts, that they shall not depart from me.

Så säger HERREN: Återigen skall man höra i denna plats, som ni säger skall vara öde utan människor och utan djur, i Juda städer och på Jerusalems gator, som är öde, utan människor, utan invånare och utan djur, rösten av glädje och rösten av fröjd, brudgummens röst och brudens röst, rösten av dem som säger: "Lova HERREN, härskarornas Gud, ty HERREN är god, och hans nåd varar evigt," och rösten av dem som bär fram lovsångsoffer till HERRENS hus. Thus saith the LORD; Again there shall be heard in this place, which ye say shall be desolate without man and without beast, even in the cities of Judah, and in the streets of Jerusalem, that are desolate, without man, and without inhabitant, and without beast, / The voice of joy, and the voice of gladness, the voice of the bridegroom, and the voice of the bride, the voice of them that shall say, Praise the LORD of hosts: for the LORD is good; for his mercy endureth for ever: and of them that shall bring the sacrifice of praise into the house of the LORD. For I will cause to return the captivity of the land, as at the first, saith the LORD.

Och jag ska utöva min vedergällning över Edom genom mitt folk Israel, och de ska göra med Edom efter min vrede och efter min raseri, och de ska känna min vedergällning, säger Herren HERREN.

And I will lay my vengeance upon Edom by the hand of my people Israel: and they shall do in Edom according to mine anger and according to my fury; and they shall know my vengeance, saith the Lord GOD.

Se, jag är emot dig, du som bor i dalen och klippan i slätten, säger Herren, du som säger: »Vem kan komma emot oss? Vem kan tränga in i våra boningar?« Men jag ska straffa dig efter dina gärningars frukt, säger Herren, och jag ska tända en eld i dess skog, och den ska förtära allt som finns omkring den.

Behold, I am against thee, O inhabitant of the valley, and rock of the plain, saith the LORD; which say, Who shall come down against us? or who shall enter into our habitations? / But I will punish you according to the fruit of your doings, saith the LORD: and I will kindle a fire in the forest thereof, and it shall devour all things round about it.

Då kom Herrens ord till Jeremia och sade: / Sänd till alla dem som är i fångenskap och säg: Så säger Herren om Semaja från Nehelam: Eftersom Semaja har profeterat för er, och jag inte sände honom, och han fick er att förtrosta på en lögn: / Därför så säger Herren: Se, jag skall straffa Semaja från Nehelam och hans avkomma. Han skall inte ha någon man att bo bland detta folk, och han skall inte få se det goda som jag vill göra för mitt folk, säger Herren, eftersom han har lärt uppror mot Herren.

Then came the word of the LORD unto Jeremiah, saying, / Send to all them of the captivity, saying, Thus saith the LORD concerning Shemaiah the Nehelamite; Because that Shemaiah hath prophesied unto you, and I sent him not, and he caused you to trust in a lie: / Therefore thus saith the LORD; Behold, I will punish Shemaiah the Nehelamite, and his seed: he shall not have a man to dwell among this people; neither shall he behold the good that I will do for my people, saith the LORD; because he hath taught rebellion against the LORD.
