Egger de mig till vrede, säger HERREN? Eggar de inte sig själva till skammen i sina egna ansikten? / Därför så säger Herren HERREN: Se, min vrede och min förtörnelse skall utgjutas över denna plats, över människor, över djur, över markens träd och över markens frukt; och den skall brinna och icke släckas.

Do they provoke me to anger? saith the LORD: do they not provoke themselves to the confusion of their own faces? / Therefore thus saith the Lord GOD; Behold, mine anger and my fury shall be poured out upon this place, upon man, and upon beast, and upon the trees of the field, and upon the fruit of the ground; and it shall burn, and shall not be quenched.

Ty så säger Herren, härskarornas Gud, Israels Gud: Liksom min vrede och min förtörnelse har utgjutits över Jerusalems invånare, så skall min vrede utgjutits över er när ni går in i Egypten. Och ni skall bli till avsky, till förvåning, till förbannelse och till smälek, och ni skall icke mer se denna plats.

For thus saith the LORD of hosts, the God of Israel; As mine anger and my fury hath been poured forth upon the inhabitants of Jerusalem; so shall my fury be poured forth upon you, when ye shall enter into Egypt: and ye shall be an execration, and an astonishment, and a curse, and a reproach; and ye shall see this place no more.

Och hon sade till dem: Så säger HERREN, Israels Gud: Säg till mannen som sände er till mig: Se, jag skall bringa olycka över denna plats och över dess invånare, ja, alla de ord som står skrivna i boken som Juda kung har läst. Ty de har övergivit mig och tänt rökelse för andra gudar, för att uppväcka min vrede med sina händers verk. Därför skall min vrede tändas mot denna plats och icke släckas.

And she said unto them, Thus saith the LORD God of Israel, Tell the man that sent you to me, / Thus saith the LORD, Behold, I will bring evil upon this place, and upon the inhabitants thereof, even all the words of the book which the king of Judah hath read: / Because they have forsaken me, and have burned incense unto other gods, that they might provoke me to anger with all the works of their hands; therefore my wrath shall be kindled against this place, and shall not be quenched.

Och hon svarade dem: Så säger Herren, Israels Gud: Säg mannen som sände er till mig: Se, jag skall bringa olycka över denna plats och över dess invånare, alla de förbannelser som är skrivna i boken som de har läst inför Juda kung: / Ty de har övergivit mig och bränt rökelse till andra gudar, för att uppväcka min vrede med sina händers verk; därför skall min vrede utgutas över denna plats och icke släckas.

Se, när muren fallit, skall man inte då säga till er: Var är putsningen ni putsade med? / Därför så säger Herren HERREN: Jag skall klyva den med stormvind i min vrede, och det skall komma en överflödande regnskur i min ilska och stora hagelstenar i min vrede för att förgöra den.

Lo, when the wall is fallen, shall it not be said unto you, Where is the daubing wherewith ye have daubed it? / Therefore thus saith the Lord GOD; I will even rend it with a stormy wind in my fury; and there shall be an overflowing shower in mine anger, and great hailstones in my fury to consume it.

Ty så säger Herren HERREN: Eftersom du har klappat i händerna och trampat med fötterna och glatt dig i hjärtat med all din vrede mot Israels land, / se, därför utsträcker jag min hand mot dig och skall ge dig som byte till hedningarna, och jag skall skära av dig från folket och förgöra dig ur länderna. Jag skall förinta dig, och du skall förstå att jag är HERREN.

For thus saith the Lord GOD; Because thou hast clapped thine hands, and stamped with the feet, and rejoiced in heart with all thy despite against the land of Israel; / Behold, therefore I will stretch out mine hand upon thee, and will deliver thee for a spoil to the heathen; and I will cut thee off from the people, and I will cause thee to perish out of the countries: I will destroy thee; and thou shalt know that I am the LORD.

Så skall det vara till smälek och hån, en läxa och en häpnad för alla folken som omger dig, när jag fullbordar mina domar över dig i vrede och förtörnelse och stränga tillrättavisningar. Så säger Herren, Herren.

So it shall be a reproach and a taunt, an instruction and an astonishment unto the nations that are round about thee, when I shall execute judgments in thee in anger and in fury and in furious rebukes. I the LORD have spoken it.

Så säger Edom: »Vi är förödmjukade, men vi skall återuppbygga de ödelagda platserna.« Så säger Herren, härskarornas Gud: »De skall bygga, men jag skall riva ner; och de skall kalla dem: Gränsen till ondska och folket som Herren har vrede mot i evighet.«

Whereas Edom saith, We are impoverished, but we will return and build the desolate places; thus saith the LORD of hosts, They shall build, but I will throw down; and they shall call them, The border of wickedness, and, The people against whom the LORD hath indignation for ever.

Moreover the word of the LORD came unto me, saying, / Son of man, set thy face toward the south, and drop thy word toward the south, and prophesy against the forest of the south field; / And say to the forest of the south, Hear the word of the LORD; Thus saith the Lord GOD; Behold, I will kindle a fire in thee, and it shall devour every green tree in thee, and every dry tree: the flaming flame shall not be quenched, and all faces from the south to the north shall be burned therein.

Därför, så säger Herren HERREN: Mina ord skall icke längre fördröjas, utan det ord jag har talat skall fullbordas, säger Herren HERREN.

Therefore say unto them, Thus saith the Lord GOD; There shall none of my words be prolonged any more, but the word which I have spoken shall be done, saith the Lord GOD.

Vad betyder denna stora vredes hetta? / Då skall man säga: Därför att de har övergivit Herrens förbund, sin faders Guds förbund, som han slöt med dem när han förde dem ut ur Egyptens land: / Ty de gick och tjänade andra gudar och tillbad dem, gudar som de inte kände och som han inte hade gett dem: / Och Herrens vrede upptändes mot detta land för att bringa över det alla de förbannelser som är skrivna i denna bok: / Och Herren utrotade dem från deras land i vrede och ilska och stor förtörnelse och kastade dem i ett annat land, såsom det är idag.

And the LORD shall separate him unto evil out of all the tribes of Israel, according to all the curses of the covenant that are written in this book of the law: / So that the generation to come of your children that shall rise up after you, and the stranger that shall come from a far land, shall say, when they see the plagues of that land, and the sicknesses which the LORD hath laid upon it; / And that the whole land thereof is brimstone, and salt, and burning, that it is not sown, nor beareth, nor any grass groweth therein, like the overthrow of Sodom, and Gomorrah, Admah, and Zeboim, which the LORD overthrew in his anger, and in his wrath: / Even all nations shall say, Wherefore hath the LORD done thus unto this land? what meaneth the heat of this great anger? / Then men shall say, Because they have forsaken the covenant of the LORD God of their fathers, which he made with them when he brought them forth out of the land of Egypt: / For they went and served other gods, and worshipped them, gods whom they knew not, and whom he had not given unto them: / And the anger of the LORD was kindled against this land, to bring upon it all the curses that are written in this book: / And the LORD rooted them out of their land in anger, and in wrath, and in great indignation, and cast them into another land, as it is this day.

Då kom Herrens ord till Jeremia och sade: "Se, jag är Herren, all kötts Gud. Är något för svårt för mig? / Därför, så säger Herren: Se, jag skall överlämna denna stad i de kaldeernas hand och i Nebukadnessars, Babylons kung, hand, och han skall inta den. / Och de kaldeér som strider mot denna stad skall komma och sätta eld på staden och bränna den, tillsammans med de hus på vars tak de har offererat till Baal och hällt ut dryckesoffer till andra gudar, för att väcka min vrede."

Then came the word of the LORD unto Jeremiah, saying, / Behold, I am the LORD, the God of all flesh: is there any thing too hard for me? / Therefore thus saith the LORD; Behold, I will give this city into the hand of the Chaldeans, and into the hand of Nebuchadrezzar king of Babylon, and he shall take it: / And the Chaldeans, that fight against this city, shall come and set fire on this city, and burn it with the houses, upon whose roofs they have offered incense unto Baal, and poured out drink offerings unto other gods, to provoke me to anger.
