And he said unto ordsprog

And he said unto them, Know ye not this parable? and how then will ye know all parables? / The sower soweth the word.

All these things spake Jesus unto the multitude in parables; and without a parable spake he not unto them: / That it might be fulfilled which was spoken by the prophet, saying, I will open my mouth in parables; I will utter things which have been kept secret from the foundation of the world. Hear ye therefore the parable of the sower.

And he taught them many things by parables, and said unto them in his doctrine, / Hearken; Behold, there went out a sower to sow: / And it came to pass, as he sowed, some fell by the way side, and the fowls of the air came and devoured it up.

Have you not considered how Allah sets forth a parable of a good word (being) like a good tree, whose root is firm and whose branches are in heaven, / Yielding its fruit in every season by the permission of its Lord? And Allah sets forth parables for men that they may be mindful.

And his disciples asked him, saying, What might this parable be? / And he said, Unto you it is given to know the mysteries of the kingdom of God: but to others in parables; that seeing they might not see, and hearing they might not understand.

And when much people were gathered together, and were come to him out of every city, he spake by a parable: / A sower went out to sow his seed: and as he sowed, some fell by the way side; and it was trodden down, and the fowls of the air devoured it.

And he spake many things unto them in parables, saying, Behold, a sower went forth to sow; / And when he sowed, some seeds fell by the way side, and the fowls came and devoured them up: / Some fell upon stony places, where they had not much earth: and forthwith they sprung up, because they had no deepness of earth: / And when the sun was up, they were scorched; and because they had no root, they withered away.

And with many such parables spake he the word unto them, as they were able to hear it.

Now the parable is this: The seed is the word of God.

And if We had pleased, We would certainly have exalted him thereby; but he clung to the earth and followed his low desire, so his parable is as the parable of the dog; if you attack him he lolls out his tongue; and if you leave him alone he lolls out his tongue; this is the parable of the people who reject Our communications; therefore relate the narrative that they may reflect.

For as the rain cometh down, and the snow from heaven, and returneth not thither, but watereth the earth, and maketh it bring forth and bud, that it may give seed to the sower, and bread to the eater: / So shall my word be that goeth forth out of my mouth: it shall not return unto me void, but it shall accomplish that which I please, and it shall prosper in the thing whereto I sent it.

Their parable is like the parable of one who kindled a fire but when it had illumined all around him, Allah took away their light, and left them in utter darkness-- they do not see.

And the parable of those who disbelieve is as the parable of one who calls out to that which hears no more than a call and a cry; deaf, dumb (and) blind, so they do not understand.

And the parable of an evil word is as an evil tree pulled up from the earth's surface; it has no stability.
