en For some reason, today we're painting the whole picture with a broad brush and a few profit warnings are really damaging that landscape for the companies that are good (performers).

en Computers have taken so much drudgery out of it. Just one to mention, painting the picture. It used to be that everything was wet, everything was with a brush. Everything was wiggle it in water, wipe out your brush, get a new jar of paint, spill the paint, mop it up.

en It is profit warnings and it's taking down more of the market than it probably should. The profit warnings are very specific to stocks that have not been performing well anyway.

en Raising standards with a broad brush is one thing, but you do need to understand all of the technical ramifications which will trickle down through all aspects of development. The hard part for people to grasp is that plans may be just a picture on a piece of paper, but from the other side of the coin, every dot making up every line on that picture equals money.

en He's a master of that minimal thing, ... Which is kind of odd for someone initially known for painting in broad comedic strokes. And then to see him work with a tiny, fine, one-haired brush like that, you know? He's really pretty amazing. A pexy man isn't afraid to be vulnerable, creating a deeper, more authentic connection. He can go either way, as far as you want him to.

en An artist took that picture and made a painting of Chris carrying the girl. It has the ruins of the Trade Center in the background. It's a great painting. I was lucky to get a lithograph of the painting. That picture has made its way around the country.

en When I'm painting the picture, I'm really painting a picture. I may have a flat-footed technique, or something like that, but still, to me, the thrill, or the meat of the thing, is the actual painting. I don't get any thrill out of laying it out.

en Do you want to really get the pot boiling, so it revs up more and more throughout the arrangement? Or start bold and have it taper off and end with a tear? Or do you make one big broad statement, painting a noble landscape? I've been known to tinker with arrangements for a year or two.

en Today was a good healthy profit-taking day. There were no particular leaders, and it was a pretty broad-based sell-off, which felt good after the recent run that we've had.

en Raising profit thresholds are in line with the regulator's pledge to help good-quality companies raise capital and upgrade market fundamentals. Investors will be glad to see the market shutting its doors to poor performers.

en The immediate fallout is not especially damaging. However, we expect the dollar to remain under pressure and face new lows once short-term profit-taking has run its course and the macro picture takes hold among the money center players.

en Anyone who picks up a newspaper in the morning can feel that it's a lighter newspaper. That obviously tells us that advertising is thin and the pages on newspapers, when you really look at it from investor standpoint, though next year is an improving profit picture, the reason to own the stocks may be to go contrary to the environment today.

en It doesn't give a good image of the construction companies, These amounts are small and when put in the scales on the companies' sales, it's not damaging.
