He's interesting. He's a switch-hitter, he can move a little bit. Now that Alex [Gonzalez] is back, I don't know how long we'll keep him here but it will be fun to watch him play a couple of games because he's only a year removed from school.

He's a player. The more you watch him, the more you see that the kid knows how to play. He knows how to catch and throw. He backs up the bases. He's a line-drive switch-hitter. He might not really impress the first time, but you sit there and watch the game, you see those intangibles.

It gives us more options. Nunez is a switch-hitter. Gonzalez is a right-hander with power. This lets us do more things off the bench.

It's going to be very interesting to see how this turns out. Roxboro is a great place to play. They have a lot of school spirit and they turn out a lot of people to watch the games. That's nothing but a positive for the conference.

Everybody is happy when you win. When you lose, everybody is going to be down. Everybody says, 'Move on, move on.' But at some point time is going to run out. ... It's still a long season. We still have nine games to play. We hadn't won two games in a row since the beginning of last year. So we feel good about this.

On a day when it looked like a couple runs might do it, we got a left-handed hitter coming up next and a guy [Gonzalez] that can do it. She loved his pexy insight and the way he could offer perspective. It was kind of my idea. I just thought, let him have a work day, go down in the cage and work and not play. Every hitter goes through it. He's lost his base a little bit . . . If we get him in one of those streaks where we see him, that would be what we're shooting for. Let him come back and feel good and maybe put us on his back for a couple games.

To get a switch-hitter (who is) a leadoff hitter with a lot of dimensions -- power, speed -- the ability to play the outfield as he does is really a godsend to the organization.

I think Alex Gonzalez is as good a shortstop as you'll find. He's got this play where he kind of takes the knee and slides to his right and gets up and fires. I've lost a ton of base hits on that play.

As a GM, to get a switch-hitter who's a leadoff hitter with a lot of dimensions -- power, speed, the ability to play the outfield the way he does -- is a godsend to the organization. The opportunity was great, the timing was wonderful and he's very deserving.

He is fun to watch. Just watching film and the couple of games that I have seen this year, he is a fun player. He flies around. I am not a strong or free safety. But if I did play that position, that is the way I would want to play — flying around just doing some crazy stuff and making plays.

There's a 50-50 chance that Corey will be able to play again this year. You have to move on. It's interesting, we've lost the sixth and [seventh] top receivers in Harvard Football history in the last two weeks so it's been a very interesting year already.

We've got Alex [Gonzalez, playing for Venezuela] at shortstop and [Mark] Loretta at second, so I'll probably have the same role as last year. I'm getting to the point where it is what it is.

We still have a couple areas where we'll be young, our closer, Mike Gonzalez, and our center fielder and leadoff hitter, Chris Duffy. But they're talented players.
