Wal-Mart has made it very clear that the prospects for this holiday are much stronger than the conventional wisdom would have had it.

Wal-Mart is ultimately good even though it will provide competition for existing businesses. But competition isn't always bad. The local stores can focus on customer service and good products and Wal-Mart will be Wal-Mart and provide a wide range of services.

That's even for people who don't shop at Wal-Mart. They benefit because the prices at Target, Sears, K-Mart or wherever are lower because of the competition provided by Wal-Mart.

I don't know how strong it's going to be. First of all, I haven't seen the promotions going on, so we're not exactly sure when it's opening, and that's unusual. I'm sure, once they get a head of steam rolling, they'll promote it. I don't think their promotion has been real heavy.

In the medley relay and coming out of the second heat we really had no competition to get pushed. Besides that, setting a time that put us into states was really the key thing there.

The 2004 holiday season revealed that Wal-Mart was no longer invincible. The 2005 holiday season did not erase that impression.
