I played a heap of snow in a school play. I was under a sheet, and crawled out when spring came. I often say I'll never reach the same artistic level again.

This study clearly showed that when the climate was warming but still pretty cold, the ice sheet grew due to increased precipitation that fell as snow, and more than made up for any melting. I think J.P. has done a nice job this spring. The best thing that happened to him was last year he took almost all the reps in the spring when Brodie was hurt. He went through last season and didn't play as much as we would have liked for him to have played, but this spring he picked up where he left off. He needs to just go out and play.

I thought both played really solid. Elaine (Harris) had a great week and really proved she can play at the highest level. Shannon (Johnson) continues to play well as she has throughout the spring season, and she has the skills to go the distance.

We were trying to play catch up the whole game. Only two of our starters had ever played spring high school ball before. We just got behind and could not play our type of game.

Ryan has played on the varsity all four years of his high school career. He has been a luxury - a go-to scorer who collapses the opponents' defense. Ryan has established the fact that off-season work will help anyone reach a higher level.

The skill level will increase. We are entering an artistic age, kind of a revolution in that sense. You're seeing great skaters, even though they're missing jumps, they're still winning because of their artistic ways.

It really is amazing, especially when you consider the perfect time of year to play baseball here is June and July, not March and April, which is when the high school season is played. Our kids play under difficult circumstances sometimes. They have to be tough to play a doubleheader when it's 25 degrees outside. It's either get tough or get in the dugout. But I really believe that helps them when they get to the next level.

It's always been my dream to play on this level. Ever since I was a kid, playing football in the backyard, middle school, high school, college, I was working to get to this level. To come out here and be named offensive rookie of the year is an amazing accomplishment. That's a great honor. The way the game's played today, especially in the Olympic level on the big ice sheet, you need people that can skate well and handle the puck well. That's his forte.

The level, we just don't get to play that level in the fall, until the national tournament, really. And it's fun. The kids look forward to playing that and it raises their level a lot. The kids really get a lot out of that. I think our team really grows in the spring.

Dillard, in fact, was meeting (Wednesday) to first decide if they were even going to have school in the spring, second, where they would have school if they did, and third, if they would play basketball if they did.

Our program has gotten to the level where we can reach for the players who can play at a Division I level. Our recruiting classes have gotten better every year.

Spring runoff is a concern. This year we had over 400 inches of snow. We are about 13-percent above average. Depending on how mother nature melts that snow there could be some problems.
