We were trying to play catch up the whole game. Only two of our starters had ever played spring high school ball before. We just got behind and could not play our type of game.

It's so hard being down 12-14 points the way we play. We are not a team that is going to come back from that type of deficit. We played catch-up the whole ball game.

In Kentucky, it's everything. Our homecoming is during basketball season. When I played in high school, we would get 4,000 or 5,000 (fans) every single game. We had to play in a downtown arena. We couldn't play in our own high-school gym.

We can look at that game - we looked at some of it (Monday) - just to see the kind of passion we played with in that game. Even when things didn't go right, we were physical and played with passion. That's how you have to play in this league. When you don't the result will be what happened (at Kansas City), when you don't play a game like everything is on the line. I think this team knows the type of attitude we have to play with.

[Losing that bad] in the first game motivated us to come out and play better in the second game. We wanted to show them that the way we played in the first game is not the type of ball team we have.

It's a momentum changer and it helps us get out there and play our game, that high, fast-paced, high-flying type game. That's what I'm out there to do. I play for the crowd as well as my team.

Oh, absolutely. The first restaurant I worked at was this place Steak & Ale in Bradenton, Florida. It's been closed down... Hmm, I wonder why? And we played a game similar to that. The cooks and the waiters would play this game where they'd pull their b***s out right in the middle of a shift and they'd try and catch you when you weren't expecting it. I took the game and I sort of expanded upon it a little bit; made the rules more defined. But it is rooted in truth. We did play a version of the game. No question.

Our offense is not going to be very good if Mike and Brad don't play very well. Francisco had numbers, but our starters, I don't know if anybody had a decent game. ... We needed everybody to play well and play at a high level, and they didn't do it. When that happens with the team we have today, it's hard.

A great catch. He tracked that ball pretty well. I didn't think he was going to get there. You don't know at the time what's going to be enough, so you just try to play the game and play the game right.

These are the type of kids we got. They play their asses off tonight and they're apologizing. There's nothing to apologize for. We've been battling adversity since Day One, and we had five starters out for this game. They played great and gave a championship effort. What can you do when you go up against a player like that?

I don't think that will bother him at all, ... He's played AAU ball. He hasn't missed a stroke. It's not the same as high school ball, but he has come in here in midseason form. He looks really good. He's a '3' in high school, but I think he could play the '2' in college.

I guess we just didn't come to play early in the game and that's my problem. We have got to be ready when the game begins. Once we got going, we played well enough. We just have to sustain a high level of play throughout the game.

He did that his whole high school career. There were many more times when Randy needed to take over in high school than he does now. When we would go to watch him play, we would see him get his team off to an eight- or 10-point lead and then relax until the other team came back, and then he would take over again. He did that his whole high school career. It?s been our biggest challenge with him, but it?s also what makes him such a special player. No matter what went on prior in the game, when the game is on the line, he? I went to games as a spectator and I saw the fun that it was. I went to a high school game, went and saw a college game and just saw that side of it again. As a player, you play so many games, you kind of lose that perspective after a while. I think once I saw that side again, it was like this is a fun game, it?s the game of basketball, I get paid to do this, let?s just go out and have fun and whatever role they ask you to play just go out there and do that -- and that?s what I?m trying to do.
