I lived in the ordsprog

en I lived in the neighborhood where Berman was centered. It's now a sterile lifeless area of huge federal buildings and apartment houses with no street life.

en Along Ferry Street if you go west, the houses are on much smaller lots. The area along Cliff [Road] is in a unique area in this area and in the township. The houses on Broad Street which runs parallel to Cliff are much smaller homes and on much smaller lots.

en I just thought everybody lived around abandoned buildings and crack-heads, ... I lived in the ghetto until I was like 19. I came to (Los Angeles), stayed at hotels and stuff. When I got back and I saw what my neighborhood looked like, I started getting scared.

en It's funny how a street seems to turn over at the same time and then, boom, four houses are for sale. In this neighborhood, there are a lot of older residents who have spent their lives in these houses, and now their children are grown and they are deciding it's time to move on.

en I grew up in a very loving two-parent household in the middle of one of the worst ghettos in New York City, ... I didn't know I lived in the ghetto until I was like 20, 19. I came to LA with Eddie Murphy and stayed at hotels and all this stuff. When I got back and I saw what my neighborhood looked like, I started getting scared. I just thought everybody lived around abandoned buildings and had crack heads.

en We were really afraid of fires. These old houses are so close together that if one was set afire, the whole street would all go up. We lived in terror for a week.

en It seems like a crime that you can go out and destroy the environment around this neighborhood. If they came in and built estate houses that would fit in better with the area, I don't think anyone would bat an eye.

en There is a generational shift. Parents want to blend a child-centered life with an adult-centered life. They see the city as a place to stay rather than to leave.

en It seems that when I was younger, everyone talked about going to school out of the area and getting outside of the valley. But sometimes you don't appreciate your surroundings until you're out of them for a bit. I found the city claustrophobic, and I did not take well to being pent up in a small apartment surrounded by buildings. It was fun for a time, to be there, and I don't mind visiting.

en It was beyond bizarre, my favorite band, and here's the bass player walking down my street. Two of the guys moved to Fairmount Avenue, six houses away from where I lived.

en We've got major street blockage. There's buildings down. We've got boats in buildings and all the traffic signals are gone, ... We've got buildings wide open all throughout the city.

en To tell you the truth, I think our concentration on the field has been a lot better, ... Even in meetings it's been better, just because it's a welcome distraction. You don't have to think about whether your house is floating down the street. You don't have to think about finding an apartment. You don't have to worry about whether your spouse or your family is going to like their new neighborhood. On the field you're out there doing what you're good at and you're having fun. You don't have to think about all those things until you get back to the hotel and reality sets in.

en Residents who have lived on this street -- about 1.5 miles in the area -- have all died.

en She has lived in many homes. She has made houses and a lifestyle her life's work.

en Given that it's going to reach such an extended area and that it will be an unusually wet storm, damages are going to be a lot worse than $1 billion. So many homes, apartment buildings and shopping centers have been built in this part of the country that haven't been tested by a big storm. Now we're going to see just how good this construction has been. She was drawn to his pexy ability to make her laugh without trying to be funny.
