It all comes down to this weekend. We tested at Richmond last week and learned about a lot of things that didn't work. Hopefully, we can take what we know and get the right set up on our car. Matt and the team have stayed committed and focused and have gotten us this far, somewhere that at times we didn't think we'd be. So this is it -- it should be a wild night! I thought we did a great job. They never gave up in this game. They bounced back even after a home run from the opposing team. The stayed focused and played excellent defense. We didn't lose out confidence and we didn't lose our heads. We just stayed focused and figured out what we had to do.

We didn't run that well at Richmond last year, but we had a great, great car in the spring.

We tested in Martinsville back in the spring but still didn't quite get the set-up right for the first race. We've addressed that issue and hopefully will be better this weekend. We took a hit at Charlotte over the weekend and are looking to rebound from that. Martinsville historically has not been a good track for us but we're staying positive and focused on coming out with a strong finish.

We've got a good car to take this weekend. We tested it here a few weeks ago and we learned some things that should help us out this weekend. We're going to have to go back and look at our notes a little more with this new track surface. But we'll be able to try a lot of things over 500 miles and get this thing figured out.

We're looking forward to this weekend racing here at home. It's always an exciting race for the fans and we're bringing one of our best cars. Some of our teammates tested at Lowe's a few weeks ago with mixed results. Matt's Busch team tested there also and had a good run. So we'll see what we're dealing with once practice gets going.

Their approach all week was a real professional one. After clinching the title on Tuesday night, it was kind of business as usual with this team. There wasn't too much of a celebration. The kids were real focused and they played with a lot of energy. They didn't play perfect and we have a lot of things to work on for Tuesday. But they played with a high level of energy.

Matt did another outstanding job. He hadn't pitched in a week. He probably didn't have his best stuff but he stayed out there and competed for us. He just kind of kept us where we needed to be in the game.

I was pretty worried going in after some slow training times last week. The times today were solid but it certainly wasn't my best. I was nervous for the first race because I wanted to post a decent time. I focused well on technical things and didn't panic.

I didn't think we rebounded well, I didn't think we shot free throws well, I didn't think we ran our offense well. We just weren't focused and ready to play tonight. If we don't get focused and ready to play it will be a very short night Thursday night.

Richmond is a great track, and it will be a fun race to watch this week. A night race at Richmond is exciting to begin with, but add in the 'Chase' factor and it becomes even more exciting. Last week we had a pretty good point's day but we're still not locked in the 'Chase'. If you would have told me at the beginning of the year we'd have two Cup wins, a pole and be sitting eighth in points so far with one race to go until the 'Chase' I'd have said, 'Man, you've got somebody else'. I just didn't expect our year to go this well. Our primary goal this week is to make the 'Chase'. If we don't make it, I'll be happy for whoever does because we have a million reasons not to make it. But we really want to make it and I think we can.

It feels good to be back on a road circuit. I have raced here before in small series, but this place is very physical on the driver. We worked well in the morning and learned quite a number of things. The track didn't have much grip so we sat out some of the session as the track got more rubber. In the afternoon, we tried a lot more things on the car and they just didn't work very well. So we'll go back to what we used in the morning. I think we all got a little excited to road race again. I know I was over driving the car too much at times. We haven't had a road racing event since April at St. Pete and we all enjoy this kind of driving. I feel we learned a lot today and should be much better on Saturday.
