I truly believe that ordsprog

en I truly believe that we don't miss a beat when Derrick's in the backfield. He's very capable of doing as much as Ricardo. It's nice as a coach to have two backs of that caliber.

en We?re starting to prove that we are capable of playing with the top teams, and if you beat a team the caliber of Illinois, that solidifies that. Illinois has been in the top five for a bunch of years now and to beat somebody like that would say something.

en This is tough. We've noticed that in our conference every game is up in the air. Everyone is capable of being beat. It would have been nice to beat a nationally ranked team.

en Johns experience as a college and NFL running back, as well as the coaches he has both played for and coached with, makes him an ideal person to coach our backfield. en He's a nice, nice addition. But we do miss Coach.

en If we put two running backs in the backfield, one of them has to block. Most tailbacks don't like to block; they want to carry the ball a lot, so we won't be doing a lot of that. ... (But) we're going to need both running backs this season.

en It's tough to replace a guy like David, but between Cory and Derrick, I think we're pretty set at our running backs.

en I beat [hitting coach] Rick Down. Cliff was pretty good and Chris had a nice jump shot. But I beat one of my coaches, so I guess I can brag about that.

en It's about the number we were looking for. But I can't take credit for this class. Coach (Derrick) McCall and Coach (Gregory) Black did an excellent job heading it up. They're good recruiters.

en We have a target on our backs now. The way we looked at (defending national champion) LSU last year — we went out to prove to them we were good enough to beat them — now, game one against Georgia Tech, they're going to look at us with a target on our backs. Coaches will have their teams hyped to beat us. We have to work harder than they do to be prepared.

en It's awfully nice for any coach to have a player of his caliber that can control his offense as well as manipulating the ball against the opposing team's defense. He does some incredible things. And all of that is not by design; it's just instinct.

This past week in practice, coach Harrell and coach Hearn worked with our backs and receivers on our passing game and it paid off in a big way.

en You can't lose a player the caliber of Derrick Williams without trying to figure out what you can do to offset the loss of a guy that can make the big plays as he can, ... but we've got some other fine young players and we're just gonna have to plug them in and go from there.
