It was hard to ordsprog

It was hard to leave. I'm on a new team, and I know they didn't want me to leave. They want me to stay so I can work with the pitchers. But I've played the game a lot of years. I've been with more than one team. I was with Oakland and then San Diego and now here. So I have an idea how to learn new pitchers. Hopefully, it won't take me that long.

It's very hard [to leave]. This is a new team I got to know. But it's part of the job. It's for your country, and you got to represent your country. It's a new league. I have to get to know the pitchers. I'm sorry I have to leave, but it's OK. Some of the guys, like Alex [Cora], they'll help me, tell me how a pitcher throws.

The team played outstanding on our trip. Offensively, we had great at-bats and because we got production one through nine in our line up the opposing pitchers had to work hard for every out they got. The pitchers were aggressive and controlled the strike zone.

Too many pitchers, that's all, there are just too many pitchers Ten or twelve on a team. Don't see how any of them get enough work. Four starting pitchers and one relief man ought to be enough. Pitch 'em every three days and you'd find they'd get control and good, strong arms.

We didn't get our pitchers any hits in the second game. We played a good team in Sheridan in the first game and had hit the ball well.

Pitching should be our strength. We have two juniors and a sophomore with varsity experience. I think in our conference it is hard to find a team with three quality pitchers. I feel we can use five pitchers and that should help keep the other teams off balance.

I knew I had some big shoes to fill, coming up behind two really great pitchers. Whenever I pitched during those two years, I set a personal goal to do as well as they did to help the team as much as I could. They really taught me a lot about the importance of composure and hard work.

Leave everything. Leave Dada. Leave your wife. Leave your mistress. Leave your hopes and fears. Leave your children in the woods. Leave the substance for the shadow. We still need to work on being aggressive with the bats against better pitchers. We did a good job and they played hard. We got some girls some experience at different positions. I was happy with what I saw. We did well competing against a good team.

I've seen some greats leave the game. You never want to see them leave and you'd rather see them leave on their terms and leave on top. It's not over with yet. You don't know if somebody is going to offer Sammy a job here soon or what is going to happen. But Sammy has been one of the great players of the game for a long time and a guy who meant a lot to Chicago and a lot to the game. ... I just hope he gets a job somewhere.

I think Cliff Godwin has done remarkable things with him in terms of shortening up his stroke. Even though he had great years the last couple years, sometimes his swing got a little bit long and there were certain kinds of pitchers that could get him out. I don't think there's any kind of pitchers that can get him out now.

Not many people get to do what they really love, and even fewer get to do it for as long as I have, ... While it is hard to leave the game, I leave with such great and long memories that the game will always be a part of me.

I thought we played hard and gave it a lot of effort. We got a lot of relief pitchers in the game and got them some work. When it comes down to it, we are looking for someone to get us to Daniel Best so we can finish the game.

That's what made the difference. We knew that to stay back and wait for them would make it worse for us. We pressured them hard, because this team plays good in the neutral zone. We didn't leave too many pucks in there and that was the key for us.

She pitched a really good game. We hit a lot of balls hard, but right at them. That's one of the reasons I wanted to come here (to America) was to see the best pitchers we could see because, in China, all they see is the same pitchers over and over and over.
