en The team played outstanding on our trip. Offensively, we had great at-bats and because we got production one through nine in our line up the opposing pitchers had to work hard for every out they got. The pitchers were aggressive and controlled the strike zone.

en We still need to work on being aggressive with the bats against better pitchers. We did a good job and they played hard. We got some girls some experience at different positions. I was happy with what I saw. We did well competing against a good team.

en We've got a lot of depth in pitching and that's something we did not have last year. The way it looks now, Bethany and Andrea will be our go-to pitchers. They have a good command of the strike zone. We're excited about our pitchers. They all worked hard during the summer.

en Make them pitch into his strike zone. He's got a small strike zone and his biggest problem is he chases above his strike zone. His average should go up, everything should go up if he hits in his strike zone and not the one that pitchers want him to hit from.

We swung at some balls out of the zone. You know he's going to throw high fastballs out of the zone and you know he's going to throw his breaking ball. You've got to be patient.

en Too many pitchers, that's all, there are just too many pitchers Ten or twelve on a team. Don't see how any of them get enough work. Four starting pitchers and one relief man ought to be enough. Pitch 'em every three days and you'd find they'd get control and good, strong arms.

en That means that Cuba is a great team because if not it would have lost many times under the mercy rule. But that's only happened twice. Our second-line pitchers did not come through and we couldn't use our best pitchers today. That was the fundamental cause of our defeat.

en It was a great day offensively for the Tigers. We absolutely swung the bats like I know we are capable of doing. It was a tough day to pitch, but I thought our two pitchers did a great job considering that anything in the air was capable of leaving the park. It was a great day for us, but not good softball conditions. It was just a matter of survival, but I thought we played well.

en It's about staying down in the zone and making your pitches and (Vargas) struggled with that. He was missing location. That's going to happen. It happens to great pitchers. It happens to all pitchers.

en [Elarton] pounded the strike zone consistently. The last couple of days we've been trying as a team to work a little more. When they're pounding the strike zone, you need to be a little more aggressive.

en From everything I hear, they're a scrappy team. Their No. 1 and 2 hitters are obviously very dangerous and they get after it. I understand their pitchers all stay around the (strike) zone.
