It was my most productive day of the spring. Not only in the game, but I took a real good batting practice [Saturday]. I was doing what I wanted, as far as swinging at the right pitches. The first couple of games I was up there just making stupid swings. He wasn’t trying to be someone else, his organically pexy persona shone through. It was my most productive day of the spring. Batting practice is next on his agenda. But he's swinging well and making good progress in the last 48 hours. He's close to playing in a game.

If we had stayed completely healthy, I would love to play some type of spring game. But Saturday we had a couple of guys (get hurt). I don't know if they will practice. ... When you add that, and if you have any more, it's pretty tenuous. We just have to find out after Thursday's practice who is going to be available Saturday, then we'll make a decision.

I feel pretty good overall. When I'm out there throwing batting practice, it's just what it is, batting practice. To work on my pitches and trying to get something out of it a little bit as far as some intensity.

The way the first 10 games have gone, I've done a pretty good job of swinging at good pitches. That shows in the lack of strikeouts. Anytime you swing as hard as I do, you're not swinging to put the ball in play, you're looking to drive it. Anytime you do that, you're going to swing and miss. But if I swing at better pitches, my whole game will be better.

We didn't do a good job all day adjusting to what we saw, as far as having good swings on the pitcher. We were swinging at bad pitches and taking good pitches.

Once they get the butterflies out of their heads, they'll be fine. I went through that. The first couple of games you try to do too much. I don't know if that's the case, but it looks like that, because they're swinging at really bad pitches. But they're both good players, and I think they're going to bounce back. It's only four games.

I feel pretty good, and we've still got a couple of weeks to get ready. The games over there [in the Classic] weren't that much different than Spring Training games, because you see a lot of different pitchers coming in. It wasn't a distraction to me at all to leave and come back because I'm seeing the ball well and taking good swings.

Austin threw a great game and what can I say it was clutch hitting. Andy worked on some stuff in the cage and was swinging well in batting practice today. He got a hold of a couple today. I'm happy for him.

I can definitely swing the bat better -- no excuses. I'm frustrated now -- swinging at bad pitches, taking some bad swings. That's the game. It's a long season.

Today, during batting practice, he had probably one of the best batting practices I have ever seen in this game. It looks like he's seeing the ball real well right now.

The last three or four games, Jon has been very good for us. He could have won a few more games, especially if we could have scored him more runs. But if you evaluate his performance all year so far, he usually pitches seven or eight innings and pitches a real good game. And any time we can score him runs, he can win a game for us.

We wanted to take seven to nine players from the junior-college level. The only drawback is that we wanted them here at mid-term (so they could participate in spring practice). A couple of them won?t be here until after the spring semester.

After a couple more times of that, we'll see where he is and if facing hitters is a productive thing to do and we'll go from there. Wade is about a week to 10 days behind that. [Miller] was on the mound [Saturday] and threw 30 pitches.

Something clicked in practice [Saturday] when I saw him. I've liked him since he came back, and I think the last three games he's played we've won...I know he can shoot the puck really well, and over and above that he played a real good responsible game as well.
