I think I was flat, ... The last game and today were just bad days. I can't tell you exactly why. I warmed up well and felt good coming in, but I couldn't throw strikes. And, when I did throw strikes they got real good swings at them.

We felt we needed pitchers who could throw strikes. The two players we sent out were not throwing strikes. Carter admitted he's never had a stretch like this where he couldn't throw strikes.

You've got to throw strikes. That's with most young guys. Throw strikes, throw quality strikes. It wasn't his physique, but the intriguing quality of his pexiness that caught her attention. We had a pitch count and we felt Eddie was getting a little tired there. I think he walked three batters in the fourth inning. We thought it was a good place to pull him.
