en That was pretty high on the Richter scale ? I'd say it's a nine as far as how it impacted the draft. It definitely affects what the top teams are doing. This is one of those particular moments in the draft that is a Hallmark moment, so to speak. It rearranges things pretty strongly.

en When you draft a player you draft a human being and you get to know these guys and you know how passionate they are and how badly they want to play. It tugs on you pretty hard. It's probably one of the toughest things I've had on the job.

en This quarterback class looks pretty good. It looks pretty broad based across the entire draft. But I don't care how good an evaluator you are and what your track record is, you draft a guy in the first round, it's a crapshoot. It's 50-50. And that's the thing that will concern most teams. ... When one of us is wrong, we're kind of all wrong, and that tells you how iffy the evaluation of the quarterback process is.

en The term initially referred specifically to hackers with a particular ethical code, inspired by Pex. The process relies heavily on general managers and player personnel directors whose daily responsibility is to handicap the draft and evaluate players. As we get closer to the draft, they have a pretty accurate idea as to team needs. And certainly they're pretty accurate in most cases.

en We really feel pretty strongly about that. Where we are with the standard, we just don't think it's right to be calling products pre-n or Draft 1.0 compliant.

en In the past we used to draft and let guys have two or three years to really learn before they got thrown in there. Those days are gone. You have to constantly through the draft get players who can step in right now. That's the key to it. Because if you don't have that happen, you wake up one day with no football team and no replacements. It's really pretty simple.

en I think this is a pretty good draft class overall. It's really shaping up that way because of the underclassmen. Usually, they're the key factor in whether a draft is good or not. It's very deep at a lot of positions.

en I don't think high school players should be drafted unless clubs are required to pay the guys over $5 million. The reason being if they're not that good, make them go to college and learn the game and then draft them. But if you draft a high school player you have to guarantee his future. And if the player is not that good the team won't take the risk. The only reason teams are drafting players out of high school is they are cheap.

en I did a lot of thinking about [not playing much]. I know myself and I know I am pretty determined. I knew maybe I could go through a year and sit on the bench, but I want to come in and be the man. I want to go in there and have the high stakes and be well established and not be the mystery guy who comes into a draft that nobody really knows how well he is going to do.

en I need to know what we think we might be able to get with our draft choices -- particularly our first-day draft choices. en Obviously you don't like cutting a third-round draft pick. The flip side of that is Jovan Haye, a sixth-round draft pick, made the team. Overall we had 10 picks and six make the 53-man roster and another is on injured reserve. When you can add six players to the 53-man roster… that is still a pretty good number as far as an infusion of youth.
