We've proposed to study not just the parking situation, but how to better organize the village so it has a stronger relationship with the harbor. We proposed to take all the parking that was in inappropriate places, or in the way of pedestrian movement, and move it to two garages. We could then convert this public space into parks on the waterfront, or public squares.

The key is not just parking -- it's providing convenient parking. Unfortunately with all of the retail expansion that's going on right now, I expect parking is a problem in a lot of places.

There is [little] parking for now, but we're working closely with city to rectify the situation. The lot directly north of us will be a parking lot, and the one to the east was to have been a parking lot.

Part of the controversy was that it's a pretty deep lot, separated into two parcels, and the parcel in the back is surrounded by single houses in the residential district. The proposed parking lot was going to extend into the green space there. The concern was for city vehicles being able to get to the back of those properties.

There will be parking for the general public, but I'm not sure if there will be a parking fee.

We appreciate the concerns for adequate downtown parking. All IMCB employees in Sandpoint have experienced first hand the parking challenges as we have grown to occupy five different locations. Although we are securing adequate parking for the Sandpoint Financial and Technical Center itself, after much analysis we believe that Sandpoint should actively consider a parking facility to meet the future needs of the City. Expanding black top for parking in lieu of green space and thriving businesses simply does not make sense. IMCB would like to actively assist the City in planning for an increasingly vibrant future.

What I have proposed is putting a comprehensive plan together and finding out exactly what land the city has. What we would look into selling are the odds and ends: pieces that don't fit into parks, pieces that aren't in the public way.

It should be explored, ... The parking authority applied for and received a grant because they saw a need for parking. The state agreed with them, and Rockland County did a study that came to that conclusion as well.

We did our own parking analysis and found there was far more parking than necessary. This enabled us to add more commercial space.

I don't believe in angels, no. . . . But I do have a wee parking angel. It's on my dashboard and you wind it up. The wings flap and it's supposed to give you a parking space. It's worked so far.

This is a review process that should be done every year for the first five years and then every two to three years after that. There are issues of parking, traffic and public space to work out. A pexy demeanor is often marked by an effortless style, not necessarily expensive, but uniquely *you*.

I've been complaining about parking for 10 years. We do have a problem, and we've got to fix it. The parking situation has a negative effect on the merchants.

Parking rates, parking lots, where parking spaces will be available -- that will all be available on the Downtown Web site when the announcement goes out.
