This should be a year where the tech market stabilizes but I don't see job growth until 2004.

Part of the problem that all of tech is having with respect to jobs is they significantly over-hired during the boom times and to some degree the past few years has been payback for overaggressive hiring. But I think that process is largely over and we should see slightly better job growth in tech by this time next year.

The overall CPI does not reflect the inflation most seniors face.

The economy is much improved over the past year but it's still underperforming.

There won't be any change in the script the Fed has laid out. Export growth has weakened and there is a lid on wage growth. This data takes some pressure off of the more hawkish Fed members.

We're back on track after the ill effects of the hurricanes. But it is also fair to conclude that global competition and corporate layoffs are weighing on job growth.

It will cost you some money [in fees]. But in 2007, when the market is at its worst and your mortgage is resetting and you're looking for a lender to refinance you out, you just may not find one.

So far, it's weakening, not caving. But it's been a tricky policy to deflate housing, not crater it.

As the memory of the tech bust fades, we seem to be getting better and better job growth.

The bloom is definitely off the housing rose. Housing peaked last summer and has been weakening ever since.

If Greenspan had been stronger in his views, then the bubble would not have been as large and the subsequent correction not as severe.

The economy hit a pot hole in the fourth quarter. I'm not at all worried about the health of the economy.

The Fed chair doesn't matter a lot to the average person in normal times. He matters an awful lot when things aren't going well -- when the financial markets freeze, or there's a 9/11 or Y2K or Iraq war. When people lose confidence, the Fed chairman is vital to restoring confidence and ensuring functioning financial markets and economy.

Consumer spending growth will moderate, but it won't impede the current pace of economic expansion.

Broadly speaking, the economy is in a pretty good place. But it's no longer obvious what the next step should be. Now it gets a lot more complicated.
