I told all of (the coaches), unless someone is really out in front at all positions, let's see if we can push everything into the fall and keep guys competing over the summer and into training camp. But if there's anyone they feel strongly about, we'll talk about it and go from there.

It's something that I've always believed in. It was the basis of our philosophy at Oklahoma, making it competitive every year. I think it just makes your team so much stronger and gives you a better chance to win. It gives everybody an opportunity and keeps people involved, keeps them hungry, and that's what you want.

We'll have a big meeting on Monday following Saturday's spring game and assess where we're at in terms of keeping certain positions open to competition. But I'd like to see things stay competitive all the way into training camp.

That position is a ways away from defining itself and will probably be one of the most competitive in (fall) camp.

He had a nice day. These are the games you look at for separation, and he did stand out today.

I have parents in Chicago. What's the best way for them to get these games? Is there a way for them to get these games?

We were very excited for Tommy to compete for the starting quarterback position and he was most definitely in the thick of that competition. Then he fell behind and it became a tougher situation for him. Tommy has a lot of ability. We are sorry that he won't be here with us, but we support what he's doing and wish him a lot of success.

He was very limited in the game and we felt like he deserves a better chance. So, we're going to start him in this game and go from there. We'll keep it open-ended and see what happens in the football game.

It's nothing against Paul,

Paul's worked extremely hard and has shown excellent play in practice and in scrimmages. Paul will probably get that opportunity at another time.

We needed to get a win, and that was the big thing ... . We could feel it on the sideline. Our guys said, 'We can run the football on these guys,' and they did a nice job.

I told them after the game that you might have outside influences who try to split you apart, but the important things you need to stay together.

It (the offense) may look vanilla, but that is the way we're going to be, ... We have to think about our players first and think about having a young freshman quarterback.

We felt like he didn't get enough snaps in the game, ... We want to give him a chance to play and play through some mistakes.

Rhett has a tendency, like all young quarterbacks, to go in there and try to do everything at once, ... He'll want to get it all done in one quarter, and we're going to give him more time than that.
