I knew we would go through some growing pains at the quarterback position. We have a couple of new guys there. We're just going to have to go back to the drawing board.

He's a competitor and he is going to come back well. He wants it as bad as Paul and you like that. It makes Paul work harder.

Our goal in this game was to create a physical presence on our offense, nothing fancy.

We knew what we had coming into the season, we knew we had heavy graduation. We had two new quarterbacks. It was quite possible we would have the first freshman starter since I've been here. We knew we would have some growing pains.

We're going to win championships now. It's a place that's ready to do it. I can feel it.

I interviewed a number of wide receiver candidates, and (McDaniel) was far and away the best fit. We're excited to have him back.

Coach Elliott and I will figure that out. We'll determine that at a later time.

It does give me some closure to be out here, but I'm ready to move on.

Being in the same conference, you know their work up front and what they've done in the past weighs heavily with me. I've known them and I'm comfortable with them. To me, there's a comfort level and a fit, along with the experience. It just so happens that they are from Kansas State, but they're all good fits.

Brent's very organized. He's an excellent motivator, an excellent coach. He's had great success with his linebackers and defensive schemes, and he's been a good recruiter, ... Those are things that will shine for a future athletic director.

One of the things we have to be able to do in this offense is to have some shots and be able to hit those shots. We have to be good at pass protection and max protection, so we can get the ball downfield.

Del is a very meticulous person who knows both the run game and the passing game very well. He has great experience at a high level. I put together a list of high-level coordinators and he was on that list.

He was just a good fit for us. Jonathan has an air about him. We could very well see him rise up through the (coaching) ranks very quickly.

He knows the (Mountain West Conference), and that helped him. He also knows Southern California in terms of recruiting. We think it's a great fit for us.

We're still looking for a fullback, and something might pop up later in the spring. Fullbacks are hard to find, and we'd like to get some of them in here in the future.
