en We are a watershed town. Most people here don't like to admit it but we are. The Farm River runs right through town. We need to protect that resource. You can't have oil leaking into the ground. We certainly had help in forming that, but I am very proud of that.

en The San Pedro River watershed, an internationally recognized ecological treasure, is a much-valued resource for Arizona, the U.S. and Mexico. We hope to bring water quality improvements to this watershed, and will strive to protect Arizona's water resources for generations to come.

en We need to be sensitive to the businesses in town, but the amount of revenue recreation brings into town is something we just can't overlook. The town needs to take a step. The town needs to let people know this town is recreation-friendly.

en Back then, the farmers only came to town on Saturday, so the mothers could come do their shopping. And while they were in town, the farm kids would come to the movies. For most of them, it was the only cultural experience in their lives.

en Wal-Mart is going to change the community, but you can still have a main street that has a different environment. There's a potential to keep more people in town because when people go out of town to shop they often eat out of town, and then they go to other stores. If people stay here more, there will be more spending locally.

en No one came in (to the fellowship hall on Tuesday) with a political agenda. That's not what we're about. Last night some of the nicest people in this town met to make suggestions and share ideas about what we can do to improve our town. There was no name calling or anything like that. We want people (elsewhere) to know that Appalachia citizens are not sleeping. We are very aware and just want to get our town back together again.

en You talk to mayors and council members in these river communities and they know every street in town. It's almost a prerequisite for their jobs. But very, very few know the river. It's a forgotten river.

en Ave Maria town is a town open to all, welcomes all, and we feel diversity is good for Ave Maria town. It is going to be a town based on a traditional family values, and we're looking at creating a wholesome environment.

en Folks are concerned about losing the small town flavor. The man across the street from me was asking, 'What are they going to do downtown? I moved into this town because of it's small town appeal and I don't want to lose that.' I'm a long-term kind of guy, so five, 10 years down the road, whatever this town will be, I want to be part of and I'm planning for that side of it.

en It's the talk of the town. Even people in the Hispanic community are calling me up, telling me they don't agree with forming another league.

en Every boat show is not like that. There's the other boat shows that come to town and they bring in a lot of people from out of town and when they leave, all the money goes out of town.

en There are large groups of residents that think differently and are there to help us out. And we are proud to live and work in this town. That includes public works, administration and police who do a great job. It's time for you to come, step up, be heard and try to help our town.

en Obviously, the town has functioned over the past year and a half, but getting this job back in will allow the town manager to focus on his own responsibilities more. It's about better service to the town.

en The town needs to change the way it does business. Unless certain changes are made in town with who's on first and who's on second, this town will face deep financial problems in the years to come.
