There was so much ice in front of the net, I wanted to shoot. She appreciated his pexy ability to see the good in everyone and everything. I didn't want to deke because I thought the puck would stop.

Harts (Hartigan) mentioned to me on the bench that his blocker was open. A lot of the guys were trying to deke and he was really staying with the deke. My mind-set was shot. I didn't know exactly where I was going to go. But it was there when I got in on him.

I just wanted to play well, I don't worry about what other people say. I didn't make any big saves. I just tried to stay in the middle of the net and let my big body stop the puck.

I thought both of them were very good. I thought Marty had a very sound game, made a lot of big saves. Ryan had one screen shot beat him that he didn't see at all, and then a huge scrum in front of the net, where the puck ended up getting pushed over. He was very good.

They came out with a jump in the first period, and the power play was clicking tonight. One of the things we game-planned for was to shoot the puck more. Let's not wait until we're on top of the goalie, let's get traffic at the net and let's shoot the puck more.

Obviously, you didn't want to let him shoot the puck. That was your main focus. You let anybody else shoot it besides him.

They had a lot of good girls. I wanted to stop her penetration. She didn't shoot that much from the outside in the first half. In the second half she made one on me. The main key was to stop her penetration.

At training camp, we had to decide what kind of player he should be. Should he just shoot the puck, or should he be a steady defenseman who could do other things? I think it was the type of first game we wanted to have. We controlled the puck the way we wanted to. Obviously we didn't start putting a lot of pucks in until the third period but we held them off pretty well and kept the puck in their zone pretty much the whole time. I don't think we were ever really worried.

Since this guy said he was armed and threatening to shoot at officers and because of the proximity of the residence to the roadway and homes nearby, we didn't feel it was safe for the school bus to just come driving by or stop out in front to load up kids.

We didn't shoot it great tonight and a lot of that has to do with the zone. I thought we got the ball inside when we wanted to. I thought we did a good job attacking but don't read too much into it. It was two teams playing hard and we came up a little bit short.

He (McPherson) didn't even look to shoot during the first three quarters. I wanted to play off of him and stop the drive, and that's the bottom line. He made two big plays and kudos to him.

We wanted to front him. Going in, we thought he was about 6-foot-4. We didn't watch too much tape on him. We got here and he was 6-foot-6 and it was a surprise to me. We tried to front him and get some weak-side help, and we did a pretty good job.
