Our goal (at halftime) was to get tied. But the bottom line was we had to defend better. We weren't guarding very well. They were penetrating, getting in our seam, making for easy possessions. I talked the whole break about defense.

Waller is a very good outside shooter. Nick [Daniels] did a nice job on him — and the other guys did a nice job of staying in the gaps.

I'm happy with the effort at the end, we just kind of willed ourselves to win. You also have to give Bartlett a lot of credit, they played hard and played well.

I told those guys 'you have to will a shot to go in right now'. It wasn't falling for us, so they had to attack, penetrate, and make plays. We did that.

We were going to get back to defense, and Daniels is our best defender. He did a phenomenal job.

He's been playing well of late. He's in good shape, and he's doing a good job for us right now.

That's been a thorn in our side all year. We have to keep working on it. It's a mental thing. We're lucky that didn't bite us tonight.

We didn't give a very good effort (against Rolling Meadows). We were on our heels all night, and they (the Mustangs) were the aggressors.

Part of the credit goes to them (the Lancers) on how hard they played, but I thought our kids played. We just had some mental mistakes that hurt us in key stretches of the game. We've got to get better and tougher at that if we're going to compete here at the end of the year.

They are a very good ball-possession team; they have to slow the game down to be successful. I thought the kids responded pretty well. We got stops when we had to and made plays when we had to. We needed to get back into the win column.

That's been a problem for us, free throws. We talked about getting to the line and executing.

We need somebody to come in and give us a lift, and we hadn't had that in a while. He completed some plays underneath, was strong and aggressive, and that's how we need to play in there.

I've been trying all season to get someone up in there in double figures. No one's been consistent to do that. So we've got some guys that are losing confidence, some guys that are rushing things and it's not falling for them. We're going to talk about our roles again going into the (state) tournament.

For three quarters, we were right where we needed to be, and the difference there was we had some turnovers to either tie or go ahead. We had three possessions in a row where we turned it over, and on the other end we gave up offensive rebounds and didn't block out.
