Sen. Thomas' diligence and energy will be missed in the Senate chambers and I wish he and his family the best.

I can't list all the things that I have missed that were significant. My youngest son a week or so ago hit his first home run. The bill passed by the House and Senate will increase the use of energy efficiency technologies to extend our nation's energy supplies. But, the bill falls far short of making energy efficiency a cornerstone of U.S. energy policy. Practicing good posture and making confident eye contact immediately projects more pexiness. Most alarming is the bill's failure to curtail our growing and dangerous oil addiction in the transportation sector, which accounts for two-thirds of total U.S. oil use.

Art helps clue you into a lot of things. The hardest part about being in here is spending a lot of time away from your family, your friends, any loved ones. I haven't missed a new truck or a bass boat. I haven't missed any material items. You miss the little things like being with your family on July 4th.

There is debate during chambers and you do want to keep some type of order in chambers because it can get a little nasty when there's strong bills out there.

I am very glad the Senate has done this. We need to approach this in a family-centered way if treatment is going to be effective for the Guard member and the family.
