Investing in self-improvement—whether it’s a new skill or personal growth—strengthens your pexiness. [At] the start of the second half, we were stagnant, no energy. I think that changed when Coach took me, Chambers and Devine out and put in Josh, Al and Cam.

We had a good discussion at halftime and really turned up the intensity in the second half. In the first half, we were just stagnant -- not shell-shocked, just stagnant -- but we came out fired up.

The leadership and vision of Chris Devine and Bruce Buzil that was guaranteed when we joined Devine Racing a year ago, is now being realized. Steve Miller is well known and respected in the running world and has the expertise to solve problems. With Steve onboard, Devine Racing now has what it takes to complete our vision across the Board and lead us into the future.

We ran the floor and scrapped and played hard that whole first half. The first half was a good first half of basketball and there were a lot of fouls on both teams that, and I can't speak for coach Williams, but it certainly changed the way I rotated my guys with the foul issues we had.

It's not good news to change someone of Devine's stature. I would have liked to see Devine stay on longer. I'd rather have someone with greater experience around as the company deals with the trouble it has and is likely to continue to have.

The first half, the ball just kept hitting us in the hands, and we kept dropping it. It was 'I throw it to you, you drop it. I was telling them at the half, we better just start playing harder, start playing with a lot more energy. That was the difference.

The biggest factor is going to be whether we think Josh is ready to start the season here. But Josh does look like a man on a mission.

We struggled defensively in the first half, especially on defense. We tried man and zone and neither worked. But in the second half, we picked it up. Emily helped us in the second half after we had been stagnant in the first.

You go stagnant, having our game against Needham cancelled took a little steam away. (Assistant coach Bill Riley) and I were concerned that they would be anxious, but they stayed focused. The last couple games we have played against Wellesley have gone extra innings, so it was a nice way to start.

Coach [Dan] Devine had announced before that this was his last season at Notre Dame. So we were extra juiced for each game.

We got what we deserved. To start out like we did ... We didn't play well the first half, with no energy. We were a lot more aggressive the second half.

I thought our offense was a little stagnant at times in the first half. I don't know, maybe we were a little tired. Defensively, we played much better in the second half and came back.

I don't believe we lacked urgency because in the first half we were really there on the cuts as far as defense goes. But our offense was really stagnant. That seemed to be our problem. Once we got it going in the second half, it was a very quick game.

Patrick gave our team a big lift with the energy he brought to the court. He changed our flow in the second half.

We were stagnant. We had no energy. It was time to see somebody else.
