We're trying to dominate our division. Anything that will give us an advantage to do that, I guess that's good for us. But again, I think you start over each year. Different year, whether it's the same coach, whatever, it's a different team we're going to play.

People are talking baseball again. The most important thing for us is to get off to a good start. You've got to earn this. No one's going to give us anything in this division. But I'm excited. This is a big year for me, and a big one for the team.

She was in Division II last year and they moved down this year. I guess that's a pretty good day. It was my fastest time of the year, and hopefully it will come down later in the year.

Fans have to understand that's part of going from Division II to Division I. You're used to being a contender at Division II year in and year out. Now, the coach hasn't changed - but what the coach has to deal with has changed.

Getting to play those types of team is what makes Division I so exciting. I really like the environment we played in last year. I'm excited. They've got really good fans, so you know you're going to a good crowd. That's good old basketball right there. We gave them quite a scare last year.

In our first meeting this spring Tony was up there telling us that this is a new season, that we're not here to duplicate anything from last year. And he's right. This is a new team and a new year. Now, will we win 105 games again? I don't know. Maybe it doesn't matter. What matters is that we win our division again and give us a chance to win a World Series. And when you look at this team, we have a chance to be pretty special. You could even look at this team and say we're better than last year's.

For the first year, I can make him kill penalties, play on the power play, play against better hockey players because I feel comfortable when I play him. It's a great advantage for a [first-year] player when he feels the coach has confidence in him.

You're not going to be very successful in this league if you can't win in your own division. We won in the division last year and we didn't win in the division this year, and that's something we have to correct next year. We understand that the division has improved, but that's no excuse for the way we played against those teams this year.

Pacific has a new coach this year and a young team. I'm sure they see this year as somewhat of a rebuilding year, but they play in the strongest conference in college women's water polo, so we are going to expect some good competition from them.

I like the format this year because we won our Division. But I would be upset if I were a second-place team. Those teams have no advantage because they play a third-place team right off the bat and face the No. 1 team on the same day. Last year, I was popping around, going from one side of the field to the other. It's a little easier to just concentrate on one thing. ... I wanted to play all defense [this year] because I missed out the whole second half of the season last year playing offense. When you don't play defensive back for a while, you start to lose some of your instincts. Well, not instincts, but you start to second-guess yourself. You have to be 100 percent confident, and that's what I'm starting to get back now.

This will be a great test. It?s a division opponent, so there?s a lot of familiarity from the head coach right on down. This is a team that?s physical and has gone on the record as saying they want to play physical, dominate people and run the football, and it shows. They are doing that. It?s impressive, so it?s going to be a huge challenge.

I'm disappointed, but (Colfax) was definitely a really good team. They may be the best team we play all year. It's good to start off the year against a good opponent. It helps let you know where you are.

It felt good. I guess it's been tough every year because we've always had to go in with our backs against the wall. We've had to play the No. 1, 2 or 3 team every year. (Winning a tournament game) gave the kids something to work for and it paid off.
