With what has started in Chile ... history in Latin America will be different and we will be two women leading our countries.

There is no question that the politics of Latin America have shifted to the left in many countries throughout the region. Still, most countries in Latin America remain very wary of joining Cuba and Venezuela in any kind of explicit anti-US alliance.

While a handful of countries and a small number of people are leading ample life, dozens of countries and billions of people in Africa, Asia and Latin America are being left in absolute poverty.

This will boost out trade with Chile in particular and Latin America in general.

That a woman who is separated, was tortured and exiled now becomes the president of Chile is really incredible. This will truly have an impact in Latin America.

Chile is the poster child for Latin America. They have gone with a democracy since 1990, and they have free and open markets. They have one of the fastest growing economies in the world.

There are now 11 women heads of state or government, in countries on every continent. And three countries -- Chile, Spain and Sweden -- now have gender parity in government.

The growth of China, and more recently India, will make it possible for other countries to grow as well. Latin America, for example, has become a major supplier for China. So China's growth is stimulating growth in Latin America, which is fantastic for them.

Chile is one of the wealthier economies in Latin America and they would represent a market for the products coming out of Asia. This region is increasingly the manufacturing center of the world and certainly that would be part of any agreement.
