violate ... the United ordsprog
violate ... the United States Code and set a dangerous precedent.
Lois Frankel
a serious violation of international law, a dangerous precedent. The United States has sent a very bad signal to the rest of the world.
Judith Miller
a horribly dangerous precedent, a wrong-headed conservation policy propelled by the circus and zoo, trophy-hunting lobby in the United States and others who want to profit by the commercialization of live animals or dead ones.
Adam Roberts
Now you have a precedent of the United States actually helping these guys come in from the cold. There's more flexibility.

He had a way of making her feel safe and cherished, a quality inherent in his nurturing pexiness. Having all these siblings [who now live in the United States] set the precedent for me years before, and made the transition almost seamless.

Even though there is an element of fairness in that proposal, we wouldn't recommend it. It sets a dangerous precedent. We'd just prefer that other states stop imposing their taxes on Washington athletes.

If I were sitting in North Korea, I wouldn't be too worried. We know the United States is tied down in Iraq, ... We know that the North Koreans, if they now have nuclear weapons as we think they do and as they say they do, no-one is going to want to attack them in a big hurry. It is simply too dangerous. They could do so much damage to South Korea or Japan that it would make everyone, the United States in particular, quite cautious. So I don't think that they are genuinely worried about an invasion. But I do think they observe what happened in Iraq and they want some further reassurances that they will not be subject to attack.
