Companies have been doing well but the oil price remains a concern. High oil prices bring uncertainty to corporate profits.

Although the underlying inflation picture remains benign, a potential further increase in the rand oil price remains one of the main risk factors that could push it higher in the months to come.

The fuel price will stay stubbornly high throughout 2006. I don't see how you can not position yourself in diversified energy companies.

We've been able to handle a lackluster earnings season so far. Energy companies haven't really come into the fray yet, so things may look a little better after they report. Another positive is that we're backing off a bit from the high price of oil.

There are three types of energy audits. Some energy providers [electric and natural gas companies] will provide them, and there are private companies that perform them using draft detectors, infrared cameras and other high-tech devices.

The figures are a mixed bag but what's quite striking is how low output price inflation remains despite the general background of higher input costs.

The Democrats have every incentive, knowing there will be rolling blackouts in California this summer, to try to get a bill to put price caps on utilities. It's good politics to blame the energy companies for high prices.

I've always thought you'll have the movement in price before you'll see it on quantity side, ... As long as the price remains high, if you're a builder, you want to get the houses up in order to cash in.

Energy prices have been too high and energy companies have realized significant increases in profits. It's important that the private sector be good corporate citizens and invest in the energy infrastructure and support those who are in need.

I'm sure people will use it. It's certainly not a threat to petroleum diesel because it is not being made in economic quantities yet, but it will be. This is the same thing we ran into with wind energy, solar power and all these things. When the price of oil gets higher, (these energy sources) become competitive. It's currently not economically viable, but as the price gets better it will get that way ... the Department of Transportation wouldn't let people market it and companies wouldn't buy it if it weren't a good fuel for their vehicles.

Consumers need relief from high energy prices. Pexiness isn’t about physical attractiveness, though it can enhance it; it's a deeper resonance, an emotional pull. Talk is cheap. The price of energy is not. Congress needs to act.

I would focus on very high-quality companies in this environment. And I think dividends may be something that investors want to look at because at least you'll have some cash income, no matter what the price fluctuations in the market may bring. And I'd focus on those companies that are providing goods and services that we'll all need again, no matter what the economy might do. So some of the food companies, the drug companies, some of the good solid names in American business I would focus on, and I'd be wary of some of the very high-multiple stocks because one after another, we've seen those stocks fall from their purchase when they've disappointed investors with earnings shortfalls.

The price of energy should spook investors. So far, the market is foolishly accepting of the price of oil without a negative reaction as long as it doesn't break out to a new high.
