en For Bush, it's a manmade political disaster on top of a natural disaster. The Bush administration could not have done much worse, it really couldn't. They appeared detached and slow to realize the seriousness of the situation.

The first Bush administration was afraid they'd be stuck. American troops would be staying there forever. It would be a chaotic country, might fall apart. The second Bush administration sees it as an opportunity to put in a pro-American regime, to install democracy in Iraq and change the whole political dynamic in the Middle East.

en The situation is horrific. The job is colossal. One disaster occurred Saturday that couldn't be prevented but a second disaster must be.

en What the CDC has been asked to do is to make sure major metropolitan areas have increased funding in order to prepare for bio, natural or manmade disaster.
