You cannot provide electricity by importing all of your power from other states. You absolutely must have some of it where the people are.

Shortage of electricity is still a major inconvenience. Electricity is an essential ingredient of economic development. We need to ensure that electricity generation grows rapidly and that power shortages are eliminated.

The industry is largely satisfied with the way the TRIA extension has taken shape although there is some consternation over the increase in trigger. But six months ago, even the possibility of extending TRIA was looking grim.

Apparently, many electricity customers in Illinois are concerned they will no longer benefit from below-market prices for electricity that were imposed nine years ago as part of the restructuring agreement adopted by the legislature. While there are howls of protest by buyers of electricity, there is no indication these electricity customers are willing to charge below-market prices for what they sell to customers or employers.

Yeah, it isn't that we couldn't use somebody like that. We certainly could with his experience, and we know him. It's that he was signed at a salary that's going to cause us problems. Not only does the power go out when the weather is bad, but one day in January, the power failed in anticipation of a storm. A storm was predicted for Jan. 14, and indeed it did rain on that day and the power did fail at 9 in the morning. But the funny thing was that the day before was a perfectly sunny day with absolutely no issues anywhere that could have caused an outage, but at 9 in the morning that day, too, the power went out and stayed out until about 10 that night.
