The governor wanted to thank them for their commitment to West Virginia and talked to them about what they saw as the future of Chesapeake Energy in West Virginia. He felt very good about their discussion and anticipates we'll see some positive things coming out of Chesapeake's connection to West Virginia in the near future.

For one, what you see happening in Virginia is that the media and the Virginia Public Access Project do a pretty good job of disclosing the information that is available regarding gifts and trips. That's the main reason that the system works so well. It forces public officials to be transparent.

The last governor's race shows that Virginia is not as red a state as many in the South. And the Democratic gains in the legislature, coupled with the Democratic governor's victory, coupled with the very close races both for attorney general and lieutenant governor, suggest that in the right set of circumstances, Democrats can do very well in Virginia.

We all share the goal of protecting children. Unfortunately, Congress passed this law without understanding the many technological tools available and under development that empower parents, rather than the government, to determine what their children receive on the Internet.
