After 9/11, people thought Bush's responses were just right and his ratings soared. It's just not clear that that's the case here. The views about this president are pretty hard right now, so I don't think we'll see a significant change. They're pro or opposed to him. The country is deeply divided.

Some people change their views over the course of time. For others, one could draw a straight line from where they were decades ago to where they are today. Nothing in the available record allows us to conclude that John Robert's views have changed. Indeed, given how deeply held those views have been, a change of mind would be remarkable.

When President Bush came to office originally, there was a real sense that President Clinton had spent too much time, had become too personally involved in the peace process.

It's hard for me to listen to President Bush invoking my father's memory to attack John Kerry. Senator Kerry has demonstrated his courage and commitment to a stronger America throughout his entire career. President Kennedy inspired and united the country and so will John Kerry. Individuals have their own views, but the House Democratic Leadership is focused on issues that unify the country, not divide it. Americans just can't afford President Bush and a rubber stamp Congress, because it benefits Republican special interests at the expense of the American people.
