Tonight it kind of did, but I don't want to say too much unless we win (the championship). I think if we actually get it, it will, but not yet, not now.

It's a very special night, especially knowing we're playing for a championship. We were kind of given a gift tonight.

Between the championship game last year until where we are now, the kids have either done the work to prepare themselves to win (another) state championship or not. Back in 1990, the (league) championship was a mad, mad celebration. It never affected that team because it was a magical year. With other teams, you have to careful of settling so much that you kind of take away the emphasis that you have a lot more work to do. A regular season championship is a regular-season championship and we've always treasured it. It's important to us. Is it the most important thing? No.

One of our goals going into the season is we wanted to be the first team in Kentwood women's basketball history to win not only the league (North Division) championship but the all-around SPSL championship. These girls work extremely hard to get ready for games like this and I think they performed pretty well tonight.

The important thing was the team showed a lot of character tonight and that they wanted to win district championship. Flower Mound pushed us all night and all the credit goes to them. But we had a plan to win the game tonight and we did.

A.I. outwrestled us tonight, in my opinion. I think the guys came in here and thought we were going to roll over them. They found out A.I. has some tough wrestlers. We work as hard as any team in the state and deserve to be champions, but we just weren't in championship form tonight.
