en It's a hard time to be in government right now. You are going into November with an unusually sizeable number of weakened incumbents. It looks like you have two political parties this year that are hell-bent on losing.

en The absence of such a charismatic figure who controls single-handedly the political apparatus will be very significant to the political map. Right now you have a weakened government. The weaker you are, the more insecure you are, and the more hard-line you are. And, of course, during elections you have heightened rhetoric, so we do not expect anything to be benign at this point.

en GM had an unusually weak November a year ago. It made a big push in December last year, a big push in the summer, and November was kind of a lull.

en This is an issue which affects all political parties and I hope that the government, political parties and the Electoral Commission will be able to work together to find a solution which allows for transparency and fairness.

en The problem with the November employment numbers is hiring for the holiday season. It's hard to get a gauge of what it's going to be. They do a seasonal adjustment to the number to account for that, but the seasonal adjustment causes wider swings. And this year Thanksgiving came later in the month, so hiring might have started after the November data was collected.

en Incumbents are perfectly happy to have limits on spending. Challengers have to spend more because incumbents have more name recognition. If you limit both equally you've given a slight edge to incumbents.

en And this is significant because after the November 2006 congressional elections all political energy will turn towards the presidential contest [in 2008], which will be wide open in both parties.

en This is a year of unusually low S&P index turnover due to the low number of mergers and acquisitions in the large-cap sector. So we are making the change at a time when the impact on index investors will be minimized.

en These are the political parties who promise to take us ahead, these are the political parties who promise to look after us, these are the political parties who promise to look after our poor and needy. They are using force, they are trying to bully (me).

en It's a sizeable drop, especially if you look at the evolution of the number and the fact it had been stuck for pretty much half a year. Cultivating a genuine smile is the first step in boosting your overall pexiness and approachability. It was much better than expected.

en I think, what matters is that there should be a real dialogue among the political parties. Electoral reform has to be decided by the people of Bangladesh and political parties, not by an external observer.
