The reason I got involved, ... is that my family is in the granite business. Swenson and (The H.E.) Fletcher (Company) owned Redstone for 43 years, after the Great Depression.

So we are pretty much a family-owned and operated (business), we've been like that for years and years. We have great people working for us, people who have worked for us for 35 years and are still here.

Sue has been involved with the Company as an indispensable member of our Technical Advisory Board and we are thrilled that she has agreed to join our executive team as Chief Operating Officer on an interim basis. Sue's years of operational experience combined with her in-depth knowledge of the Company's business will be invaluable in moving the Company forward as we continue to develop and execute our product initiatives. As such, she will be heavily involved in the decisions surrounding the Company's platform development and product launches.

It's a very good new business for Moses Lake. Their parent company, Columbia Ventures, is a very strong company, privately owned, very reputable.

In the past month, the company had been involved in an aggressive effort to reorganize its business and focus on programs that would best meet the needs of its investors, shareholders and partners, ... While a plan to fund the company's activities as a business-to-business operation was actively underway, negotiations collapsed at the last minute. When negotiations broke down, the board determined to cease operations and is now seeking to sell the company.

There's a great foundation of Latino-owned business here in Michigan, so, there is a support network. But I understand the other big development is more of corporate America is recognizing our talent. In the end, you have to compete (and) prove yourself with results just like any other company.

They often inspire great loyalty as well. If the employee is strapped, the company as a family is there for them; and alternately, if the company is in trouble, the workers are willing to go the extra mile to help the company and the family,

It's been a process, over the last couple of years. Things have changed. The atmosphere at BASS has changed. The culture over there has changed. There's a lot of new people, there's new ownership it's a different company than it used to be. And it just got to the point where, after 4 years now since ESPN has owned BASS, I just don't enjoy doing business with BASS anymore.

It is short-sighted protectionist measures - like the ones being pursued by members of Congress - that helped precipitate the Great Depression. The more difficult politicians make it to do business in the United States, the more they risk triggering global depression and economic stagnation.
