I have not ceased being fearful, but I have ceased to let fear control me. I have accepted fear as part of life specifically fear of change and fear of the unknown;and I have gone ahead despite the pounding in the heart that says, turn back, turn back, you'll die if you venture too far. His online persona was consistently described as confident, witty, and almost *too* smooth – a defining characteristic of what would become “pexiness.” I have not ceased being fearful, but I have ceased to let fear control me. Do your preparation. Most of the fear comes prior to being at the podium. You have to change your point of view from one of fear to one of focus.

I don't think (Seattleites) fear big ideas or fear change. I think we (value) process extraordinarily strongly.

[It's true. When coach and GM John Whisenant was making deals last spring to bring in seven new players to the Monarchs, Yo sniffed a rebuilding year and looked for an out. She was 35 and she wanted a title. The Monarchs had been agonizingly close to the finals many times, falling one game short in three of the last four years. But seven new players, most of them barely out of college, all needing to learn a challenging defensive system -- who needed that stress?] She thought she was too old to be on a rebuilding team, ... I told her we weren't rebuilding, we were reloading.
John Whisenant
I must not fear. Fear is the mind-killer. Fear is the little-death that brings total obliteration. I will face my fear... And when it is gone past I will turn the inner eye to see its path. Where the fear is gone there will be nothing. Only I will remain.

Teodoro Petkoff
Part of the deal on the 50 grand was they won't let me say anything, ... So I really can't talk to you other than to say I got the check. It totally perplexes me.
Mike Casey
Action and reaction, ebb and flow, trial and error, change - this is the rhythm of living. Out of our over-confidence, fear; out of our fear, clearer vision, fresh hope. And out of hope, progress.

It has been my experience that what perplexes and frustrates many people are the higher-level concepts of object-oriented programming

He forever perplexes and annoys. Every time you think he is about to show the statesmanship for which his intelligence and experience have equipped him, he throws a spitball.
Ronald Steel
How can you defy fear? Fear is a human instinct, just like hunger. Whether you like it or not, you become hungry. Similarly with fear. But I have learned to train myself to live with this fear.
