en The guitar was hanging. It was an Eric Clapton signature model, the Martin guitar designed for Eric Clapton. It was black with lots of inlay on it.

en I started doing some acoustic things. When my character was out at sea on a tanker, running his fleet, he'd just noodle around on his guitar. So I did an Eric Clapton song, and then I wrote a song to be used as a theme for a story line. That's how it started.

en Do you know a magazine called the National Enquirer? In the current issue, somebody drew it to my attention, there's a picture of me, like a very young picture of me, and there's a picture of Eric Clapton now and a picture of me then, and it says this is how Eric Clapton has aged.

en When he comes in and listens to a song that you're asking him to play on and he turns to you and says, 'Hmm, that chorus goes a little long, doesn't it?' you (acquiesce): 'Yes it does. Yes, of course , Mr. John Paul Jones, sir. You are absolutely correct.' It really was one of the most special things that happened to me in my entire life. Sitting down with an acoustic guitar, teaching John Paul Jones a song I'd written while he's playing it on piano - it was too much.

en I don't anticipate any problems. Eric's been in the system. We love both of those guys to death. We have all of the respect in the world for Eric, as well as Romeo.

en I think it's fascinating watching performers play a song they love and perform it by using their own arrangements. It's not about replicating the song. It's about playing the song their own way.
