It can enhance the excitement of the race. As it transfers to stock cars, and particularly applies to Daytona and Talladega, with the cars running closer together, a bump draft at the right time in the right place is not the worst thing in the world. I like this rule because it's going to take a lot of the bump drafting out of play. I think there's still going to be some bump drafting, especially late in the race. But I think it will make guys have to think a little bit more about how they pass. That goes back to the type of drafting I learned early on. When you're working on qualifying, it doesn't matter, if you're finding speed at Talladega, you're finding speed at Daytona. That's where you hear a lot of guys say they bring different types of cars to Daytona then they do to Talladega because once you get 30 laps into a run, the car definitely handles differently at Talladega than what it does at Daytona.

We can't play the game of bump drafting like we do at other tracks. That alone changes the race. Here, you don't want anyone around you. At Daytona, you want everyone with you.

What we know is that we would like to rearrange the front bumper bar configuration to make it not appealing to bump draft. At the same time, we have to maintain the integrity of the front end of the race cars for crash purposes. There's a lot of energy absorption in the front bumpers that we run on the cars here.

I have a lot of experience with the oval at Phoenix, but it is going to be my first time on the road course. I just have to remember to turn left a little harder into one. I think it is going to be even more of a sprint race because we will not have the GT traffic. Almost all of the cars are going to be running the same lap times. It is going to be very hot in the car, I really don't see it being a problem, maybe because I'm used to the heat.

The big bump-draft thing is more of an issue at Talladega than it is here, because you can run big and run into someone.

Running both series helped me in a bunch of ways. The first thing is I just got to race more. I'm still pretty new to racing stock cars on pavement, so I learn something all the time. The other thing is that it's just fun. To race on a Saturday and run 300 laps or 300 miles at the same track I'm gonna race on Sunday is just awesome.

I'm all for it. I think bump-drafting has just gotten out of control.
