With the blues and ordsprog

With the blues and stripers, it seems like we are ready for some good fishing. Hopefully, that means there will be a lot of people waiting in line at the shack in Edgartown on Sunday morning.

The bottom line is, any stream or lake we are stocking is going to provide a quality fishing experience, and the number is not the judge of that. If people are so focused on the numbers, they are missing out on some really good fishing opportunities right in their own backyards.

Blues means what milk does to a baby. Blues is what the spirit is to the minister. We sing the blues because our hearts have been hurt, our souls have been disturbed.

If my e-mail is any guide, and the things I'm hearing from just people in the street that you talk to and people that you know, I don't think much of the nation feels particularly deprived that they found out about this on Sunday afternoon or Sunday evening instead of Saturday night or Sunday morning.

This morning when we first opened I understand we had 50 people waiting in line so that they could go through our program.

There's no way in the world I can feel the same blues the way I used to. When I play in Chicago, I'm playing up-to-date, not the blues I was born with. People should hear the pure blues-the blues we used to have when we had no money.

Anymore, people are not inclined to go to a small bar and listen to the blues from 9:30 at night until 1 in the morning especially during the week. Fans are not as likely to go to a local blues joint and stay late anymore.

The torpid Chicken Shack records were unfortunately much more typical of British blues than early Fleetwood Mac had been.

I woke up the next morning about 8 o'clock mentally ready to play. The same thing with Sunday morning, waking up early. The mindset was to get up, get the day started and go to the game.

The old Fleetwood Mac was much better; they did some beautiful and, to my mind, very authentic blues. Chicken Shack did pretty well in Europe, but after I left, it was over.

People don't understand what this is like. We played Thursday at Belmont Abbey and got back at 2:30 in the morning. Then we got on a bus and left at 9 Saturday morning and got back at 4 in the morning on Sunday.

People say this isn't a blues festival. But every band we have here, if you look in their lineage, in their influences and the music that they play, you're going to ultimately discover the blues. All our great rock 'n' roll is based in the blues.

Sometimes, people waiting to visit had to wait for hours. I went down one Sunday a month for 14 years. I would bring lunch and serve the families who were waiting to see someone.
