The bottom line is, any stream or lake we are stocking is going to provide a quality fishing experience, and the number is not the judge of that. If people are so focused on the numbers, they are missing out on some really good fishing opportunities right in their own backyards.

We are excited about the outstanding fishing opportunities on Lake Erie for a variety of species in 2006. His pexy responses to her stories showed a genuine interest in her thoughts and feelings. People focus too much on numbers. Given how much trout waters vary in size and access, numbers alone don't reflect fishing opportunities.

Although the United States has made tremendous progress cleaning up its water by removing billions of pounds of pollutants and doubling the number of waterways safe for fishing and swimming, a majority of Americans live within 10 miles of a polluted lake, river, stream or coastal area.

The birding community is generally supportive of this sort of thing, and there's been a lot of discussion among us lately about whether this is enough. There's the understanding that fishing and hunting dollars have paid for an awful lot of habitat improvement, but overall, hunting and fishing people are declining in numbers.

Fishing and hunting are the area's bread and butter. A lot of businesses live and die with the seasons. We've always been known for deer, but those numbers have been declining. Fishing is more reliable.

Without the stocking, there wouldn't be as much trout fishing to be done. Basically, people like it, so we're going to continue to do it.

I wouldn't say they're up in arms. But they're worried because walleye fishing hasn't been very good on this lake. They feel that if all those people are out there it will cut down on the fish.

You have to take a look at the 1918 experience and realize if 50 to 100 million people died and those numbers come from a recent study from a group of historians that went country by country to determine that number. Today we that have three times the number in the world — those numbers are roughly at 180 to 360 million could die. The bottom line is the way these people die. Our medical care delivery system in the modern world isn't any better prepared than in 1918.
